Obama is giving state’s the opt-out of NCLB to receive federal money.

Officially defeats conservatives at their own game, state’s rights.

No more federal money to junk private or charter schools where Michelle Rhee, Atlanta teachers (who were not union)  erase test scores.

How would state’s rights people be beaten by this, it’s a return of power to the states - what they want. For those that only see D or R, this may complicate one very small portion of one argument. For those that just go by what they think, it’s not. I’m glad he did it. I don’t think our federal government can educate all the kids effectively.

Does it bother you that he’s taking power from the feds and returning it to states or is it okay because this law was passed by a R and this is being done by a D?

No he’s killing a terrible law that was installed by conservatives who work to dismantle education by vouchers by funneling federal/state money to private/charter schools. When education is cut to the bone at both ends, one with funding and the other with vouchers. It’s no wonder we are falling behind, because we are dismantling education for all the wrong reasons.
