I pick and choose when I want to pull for the ACC… and I want them to be good in basketball this season.

I think Virginia is the sleeper this year.

The ACC isn’t the basketball power it once was, but the addition of Pitt and Syracuse will certainly go a long way in changing that.

I think you may be right about Virginia though. Bennett is a great coach.

Georgia Tech is building a $20 million basketball facility… this is why the ACC sucks at football… they put 20 mill into their basketball programs instead of football… I hate that crap.

It all starts at the top with Mr. Swofford. I’m sure you already knew that though.

Carolina has dipped their toe into the football world… maybe things will change if they start building a good football program.

The ACC schools have invested alot of dough recently in football.

UNC - the blue zone, endzone seats.

Wake - new score board

Duke - stadium renovations (coming soon)

Clem - Indoor practice facility (coming soon)

FSU - Indoor practice facility (coming soon)

In the recent past Chuck Amato brought renewed interest into NCSU’s football program and raised alot of money for it.

Miami and BC cannot do a whole lot. BC’s parking and tailgating situation is a mess because of the neighborhood. Miami does not have room for an on campus stadium, which would help them out tremendously with fan support.

Carolina has dipped their toe into the football world… maybe things will change if they start building a good football program.

that was a $70 million dollar dip. As far as the ACC as a league…. it’s made up of 12 individual members. One member can not exert effect on another. Nor can they tell them where to invest their money. UNC not only has added a great deal of money into football facilities (much of the inner belly is a large academic support facility and training facility for olympic sports), they’ve also added new features to the basketball stadium (cosemetics, new seats, and a new sound system). Also, the baseball stadium was recently totally renovated (thanks to a donation by the late George Steinbrenner (his daughter is an alum).

All of that is just to say a school must balance needs, wants, and short and long term goals. One is important to one school may seem off the mark to another. That’s not right or wrong, it just is.

I’m quite lucky. I have a lovely wife, two great kids and an ever improving golf game.
