I have actually heard some versions of this and I think it is just a rumor…...I do think FSU ad Clemson would go as a package to the SEC or Big12 if the deal made sense…the ACC brings both of our fine programs down.
Here is where it started. Sorry TB12 but this is WVU sour grapes spreading rumors just to get people riled up. 20 mil reasons and geography/history say this will never happen.
Before I get a shot back let me say that the ACC messed up by not inviting WVU IMO. I dont care about all the arguments why…yall would have been a fit athletically and geographically.
But rumor is nothing more than that though…

Most WVU fans know that site your referred to is garbage. I didn’t see that because I don’t read that site. And, none of my friends do either. Perhaps this can give you a feel for your source on trying to smack talk me… read this http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=159&f=2508&t=8608378
I heard this from a big time contributor to Iptay among others. Secondly, read my words… WVU DOES NOT WANT IN THE ACC. Would we have took it before, sure. The Big East is dying and desperate times require desperate measures. But I can assure you our director was not working the ACC. He was working the SEC and Big 12. Why in the heck would we want to take our successful football and basketball programs into that mess?
Luck is a serious candidate for the Big 12 commish job. He’s working on the inside now.. I think it’s funny how the North Carolina schools have this greater than thou attitude. Dude, Luck is trying to get Maryland into the Big 12 but the Big 12 isn’t having it. However the other ones… FSU and Clemson….. the Big 12 is listening. BELIEVE THAT.
So ND would give up all the exclusive rights and tie ins that they have being an Independent? And I couldn’t see FSU or Clemson leaving the ACC let alone both of them. The ACC would be all but done if that happend.
Thats fine…say what you want but WVU applied, was denied and I think it was a mistake. I don’t know why you think I am smack talking, if anything I am trying to be complimentary.
Say you don’t want it all you want but if you think you are in the big 12, where your closest competitor is 1000 miles away, because that is where you wanted to be, you are in a state of denial.

In an airplane whether we are in the SEC or Big it’s a 2 to 3 hour flight. And for our extremely large and loyal fan base, the Big 12 will be just fine. And in fact, great.
Your smack talk is that we are hurt or something because we didn’t get invited into the ACC. Look at how you stated that in your post. That’s fine… good luck in your league. I would howver be extremely concerned that your getting ready to lose the best football schools in your league outside of VT. And they likely will end up in the SEC when the power leagues settle on 16, where it’s headed.
So just to be clear TB12…The Big 12, which just lost 3 founding members in the past 2 years and almost came to pieces, is more stable and lucrative than the ACC which has no defections and has been expanding and has a larger TV contract that is about to grow larger again when Pitt and Syracuse join. All this coming from a homer website that wants to knock the conference that spurned their home team which has longed to be in the conference since its inception based on the fact they applied at the beginning. Just to be clear…
It has nothing to do with trying to put WVU down but everything to do with squelching the idiotic rumor that Clemson and FSU are moving to the Big 12 of all places…are they also considering the Pac-12 too?
I am for going where the money is. May as well have Texas run roughshod over a conference as Swofford. It seems the big 12 and big 10 can at least hire competent referees.
I’m totally fine staying in the ACC if they get their officiating straightened out. I can live with it’s short comings as a “basketball conference” or even less TV money
It’s my understanding starting in 2012 the exit fee to leave the ACC is $20 million. How many Iptay folks does that take? Not to pick on Clemson, but that’s a lot of money in a time where money is not falling like rain. Is it at Clemson and FSU? If so, if the big wigs want it, they can charter those Tx, Ok, and Kansas flights for all their teams. If they do, and the money gets tight, who do they ask for more? The season ticket buyers, boosters, and corporate sponsors I’d think. To that end I don’t think there are any ACC teams going anywhere, especially if there’s any truth to the idea of the ACC and ND informally “courting” each other.
