In your mind I guess that means WVU REALLY was in super secret negotiations with the Big 12 which was in the process of falling apart and forced everyone elses hand. WHATEVER…

FACT: WVU jumped from Big East cause they thought it was disintegrating. SEC AND ACC denied entry and Big 12 was losing members so they accepted you as a complete geographic outlier (822 mile to CLOSEST school of ISU which itself is an outlier). But yeah the Big 12 with its smaller money and unstable membership is REALLY where you wanted to be after all. Dumb.

The truth is the ACC sports folks defintely wanted WVU but the presidents would not consider it thus app denied. Pitt and Cuse are more fitting to what they want in schools.

I think we can both agree that from a football and basketball perspective the ACC loses in not getting WVU though.

Your points are all good, and in fact it was all over the place. Message boards, radio talk jocks and bloggers. Hell if I was you I’d read it and believe it too.

However, my point is coming from sources within and currrent sources within. You can take it or leave it. No big deal to me. And I’m not getting drawn into your on going debate within this thread monster thread. It’s your debate not mine.

I’m just telling you good stuff that’s real. Perhaps in about a month when our A.D. becomes commish of the Big 12 it will help you understand the talks that have been going on. And oh….. Texas isn’t going anywhere. lol That’s so 6 months ago.

This is not a loaded question by any means… but I want to know what you Carolina folks see in ACC athletics?? Why do y’all defend the conference so much??

Good question, id like to know as well.

I cannot defend the ACC after watching so many lopsided officiated games. The only reasons I can think of staying in the ACC is because Gene Corrigan worked very hard to get us in and it has worked out great for the first decade. ACC basketball will eventually become elite again with much help from the new additions.

Sorry, I was watching Carolina play Maryland in that sport that somehow has become a terrible thing around these parts…..............basketball.

The better question besides why NC folks like the ACC, is why do y’all hate on it so much. It is YOUR conference too!!!

You say athletics and I will tell you the ACC LEADS all the other conferences in athletics based on standings overall (see directors cup)...it is the football that lags and once again YOUR teams are at fault as much as the rest of us. We grew up with an 8 team ACC where everyone played each other, it was geographically more compact, everybody was passionate about the rivalries, kids watched the ACC tournament in classrooms all over the South, and the football wasn’t too bad either in the 80’s and early 90s. I get you FSU folks didn’t grow up with that. It is the Clemson fans I don’t get who did grow up with it but are quickly turning into their Gamecock breathern who have long ago forgotten where the came from (especially judging by their game tonight against Kentucky). For years the ACC enabled you to dominate them, and now all you want to be is like SC. Sad.

Again, you have a good thing going, that is about to get better and all you want to do is pine for something that is not as good like the Big 12 cause some WVU blog floats a rumor that you all fall for to make themselves not feel like the vagabonds they are about to become. Once again… dumb.

But hey your Women’s volleyball team will love that Tuesday trip to Lubbock at the cost of 50k. Enjoy it…the smaller tv money will make it all the better to cry in while Wake Forest makes more than you on football. Genius.

I’m not angry…just trying to explain how stupid the thought of Clemson and FSU going to the big 12 would be. I truly just don’t understand all the hate on the ACC…No matter what TB12 spins they ain’t going to the big 12 because that is where they want to be. Anyone who has ever looked at a map knows that.
