John Swofford seems pretty confident that Clemson and FSU are fine with making less money than their peers.

Yes, this:

Heather Dimwich and all of the other news media reads whats on the paper, they fail to read whats between the lines.  Sure, they can vote on tuition, but that’s not all they are talking/voting on I promise you.  No BOT suddenly calls a meeting just to vote on tuition give me a break.

Anyone believing this is an “ordinary” meeting is out of their mind.  Straight from the BoT bylaws:

1. Regular Meetings

There shall be four regular, quarterly meetings of the Board, normally in January, April, July and October. The July meeting will be the Annual Meeting. The day, time and place shall be determined by the Chair of the Board.

Last I checked it was May.

2. Special Meetings

It shall be the duty of the Chair of the Board (or the Vice Chair in the absence of the Chair) to call a special meeting of the Board whenever it shall be deemed necessary or upon the written request of five Trustees. In the latter case, said meeting shall be held within ten days of receipt of the five written requests or on a date agreeable to the requesting Trustees.

Oh here we go, this is it.

You should also note this point:

5. Notice of Meetings

Written notice of all meetings of the Board shall be sent to each member of the Board at least five days prior to the date of the meeting. This requirement may be waived by unanimous consent.

Pretty sure it was announced yesterday and is being held today.  I know I’m not a UNC grad but, to my knowledge that is only one days notice.  So according to the bylaws, this meeting they are holding today was because of unanimous consent.

IMO, this meeting is to get everyone on the same page for moving to the Big 12.  Maybe to even go ahead and vote on giving power to the president/AD to look at other conferences.  I think there will be some more denying after the meeting for legal purposes, but we all know whats happening behind closed door.  I hope I’m wrong about that last part and they come out guns blazing to tell the ACC we are leaving but thats wishful thinking right now.  This is no ordinary meeting.

How about this one, these Texas guys are genius.  So far I like them.

Responded just how I thought they would.  Didn’t do anything to squash rumors.  He legit said, if they recieve an offer they will consider it.  Still in the works folks, don’t get all nervous and down yet.

They haven’t been contacted officially by the Big 12, we knew that…duh.  Legal stuff.  Once they apply then there will be contact.

I really think the Big 12 wants Notre Dame first and foremost… That’s not to say they won’t try and get Clemson… But they want to make sure that Notre Dame is absolutely out of the question.

I think this was Clemson’s way of sneaking a smoke signal to the Big 12 saying, hey….we would love to make official contact.  Just look at these comments.

No digging to be done, FSU and Clemson are going to the Big 12. It is done deal.

Here is the rub….

80% of the ACC/ESPN contract is Football driven…..

Less than Half, maybe as low as 1/4 of ACC teams are really generating the TV draw yet have to divide that money with the other 3/4 of the teams equally AND ESPN owns all tier 3 rights in BB and Football.

Teams like BC which bring nothing to Football and Basketball on the field, in the stands or on TV get the same money as the rest of the league.  North Carolina and Duke usually are the Big TV draw in BB.

If the ACC is to keep school like Clemson and FSU together then revenue distribution needs to be re- assessed.  Being in the ACC shouldn’t be enough.  How any team performs in BB and Football, average attendance (I’ll even say based on percentage of attendance at stadiums since the sizes vary) and ticket sales to bowl games should have play each year on the money….

In short, Schools like Clemson, FSU, VT should get a bigger share of the football money and schools like UNC and Duke should get more of the BB money
