Guys, I talked on the phone with new UNC offensive coordinator Blake Anderson today, and he seemed to be really pleased about where his players were with their transition to the new scheme.

Here is the article: http://www.southernpigskin.com/ACC/view/anderson-gives-unc-firepower-excitement

How much improvement do you expect to see out of the Tar Heels’ offense this fall? I am particularly interested to get our UNC fans’ takes on this one.

I don’t see how the offense could be less mediocre than last year, so the odds of it improving are pretty good.

I’d like to see how the defense holds up.

I think Davis left the talent there, the offensive line will be experienced and senior, a good qb, an awesome rb and a deep receiver corps.

I think UNC has to get better on special teams as they were terrible last year.

The D will be fine just not as star studded. As Phil Steele said on the radio this week, you may not know the names yet but you will by mid season. I am really excited.

Elaine Dickinson: “When will you be back?”
Ted Striker: “I can’t tell you that. It’s classified.”

Sleeping giant about to be awakened. Butch had them stirring, but obviously that came crashing down. Maybe not this year, but they’ll win 10 games in the next couple years.

Only thing about Fedora is at Southern Miss they had one stupid, really stupid loss every year - usually to UAB.

Looking at UNC’s schedule, I think that this might be the year they get 10 wins. The schedule sets up very nicely for them to have a huge season.

Matt, that was a great article. As a 45 plus years Carolina fan, who has witnessed the roller coaster ride that has been Tar Heel football, I am fired up about this football season, and what Coach Fedora and staff bring to the table. I get the impression (I hope!) that they will get the most out of this team’s talents, and play to their strengths. Properly executed, the new offensive scheme should be exciting. I can’t wait until September.  Kenan Stadium awaits.

I think the Fedora hire was rock solid. He can coach his butt off and won at Southern Miss and that’s not easy. He had So. Miss positioned as arguably the best team in Mississippi with half the budget of the other two. I think he turns UNC around. Hiring him was the best thing Carolina has done in years.

I know I focused this article on UNC’s offense, but I am also curious to see how their defense defense will fare under new leadership. They have always been one of the more talented defensive units in the country, but they typically fail to parlay that talent into on-the-field success.

Fedora has a impressive resume…Okla State and Fla calling plays…USM was always a notch below Boise and TCU as the best mid major…I think they can shake up things in the ACC…

Renner did well last year, and will do very well in the new offensive scheme. This spread runs the ball about half the time, so Bernard should have a great season. I’m also interested about the defense, especially the secondary. The team will have a 4-2-5 defensive set with a “downhill” saftety. UNC’s secondary wasn’t that good last year, but did have some freshmen who showed great promise. I’m eager to see how the new coaching staff utilizes a few defensive players, and also how the tight ends will be featured.
