Dabo made the point that 85% of Clemson’s team comes from 4 states: SC, FL, GA, NC…mmm what conference covers those states. I wonder.

you know it would be great? if those states were SC, FL, OK and TX
And we will still be able to recruit in NC and GA because of proximity, i have little doubt about that Atleast one OOC game a year is pretty much garunteed to be in NC or GA if we move

Its to bad you wouldn’t be able to recruit a state that wasn’t “in your conference”, shame.  Oh wait.  And like said above, add OK and TX to SC, FL, GA, etc….pretty impressive.

I wonder if Texas and Oklahoma recruiting would fall off if they had to fly all the way out to Clemson and Tallahassee to play football? The more I think about it, probably not.

Not at all because most of the Texas league schools are in their state or close.  Also, Texas recruits over 90% of their recruits in State and that won’t change.  Comparing Texas or Oklahoma Recruit to FSU and Clemson is comical at best.  Both of those schools are at the top of the food chain and always will be. They have recruits around the nation wanting to come.  Only a bad coach and coaching staff can really screw them up.  Clemson and FSU, as much as we love them are not Texas and Oklahoma and those 2 schools will be far worse than Duke and UNC could ever be when it comes to politics and screw jobs.  Clemson,FSU and I’ll throw in WVU will always be a bastard child in the Texas conference.

FSU is working on bigger fish to fry. Reports from some of the FSU alumni who follow this closely report that Jim Delaney is a huge fan of adding FSU to the Big 10. He seems to be quite impressed that FSU is working toward AAU status. The CIC money awarded to research schools in in the billions. This would help FSU reach AAU status very rapidly.

It is nice to have sensibility here…especially when Clemtgrs and Seminole understand recruiting more than Dabo.

What does that guy know…he just thinks going to the Big 12 would be “the worst thing Clemson could do.”

But of course, no other schools would use the uncertainty against Clemson. Nor have they already…Dabo just made all of that up to cover the “backdoor channels”

Have you noticed WVUs recruiting? Yeah the Big 12 has provided a huge boost to them.

Well, that didn’t take too long for _CS_ to find a sparring partner.  What Seminole doesn’t realize is that Scott is prepared to hunker down and run this debate all season…...Just a friendly caution.

I don’t claim to know more about recruiting, I just think its stupid to limit yourself when you had a guy ride 22hrs on a bus to come to Clemson from Texas, and you have 2 coordinators with DEEP DEEP DEEP Big 12 country ties.  Makes no sense to me.  Do what you do now, but add in some western recruiting.  Moving to the Big 12 would only help recruiting IMO.

And would hurt Southeast recruiting. You will lose more than you win out west cause of your location and start losing more in the south. Lose Lose.

Those Coordinators will be gone probably before we could actually enter the Big 12 probably for Head Coaching Gigs.  Having two Texas Coordinators would not be a good reason.

Morris has a new 6 year contract that pays more than a lot of HC jobs, Vennables has a 4 year contract worth 1mil a year. they are 2 of the highest paid, if not the 2 highest paid, assistants in the country, and Dabo pays them partially out of his own pocket. Each one is 100% autonomous in his area of expertise, get all the credit for the team doing well, and dabo gets all the flack when they dont.

They would be hard pressed to find a better arrangement.

Chad Morris will be gone in 1-2 years tops if Clemson’s Offense continues to dominate.  He will get a HC gig somewhere.

If Venables turns this Defense around and we have the type of seasons the next 2 years the so-called experts are saying, Venables will be gone too as a Head coach somewhere.

Ridiculous assumption and FSU recruits almost all of it’s players right in Florida just like Texas does.

They must be better recruits also, FSU begins the season rated #8. I am afraid you have that small town mystique about Texas and OU. FSU is not afraid of them and Clemson should not be either.
