I read a post about a week ago—->  People were angry that HD on ESPN was so high on Logan Thomas

What are your thoughts?  Our O-line and running game are going to be question marks this season—-> But if they hold up their end of the bargain, what type of impact do you think he’ll have?

To be honest, I wasn’t that impressed with the way Boyd played.  He was 2-0 vs. VT but he also had Watkins, the other WR, and the beast TE (haha Im terrible with names)  I think the Clemson D really deserved most of the credit in both of those games.

Did you see the same games?  Sammy Watkins, Nuke Hopkins and Dwayne Allen needed someone to throw accurate passes to FYI.  Did you see where Tajh hit Sammy Watkins while running to his right and hit him in stride?  Tajh went into Lane Stadium and controlled that game.  I realize you are a VT fan, but Tajh ate you guys for lunch and had you for dinner later in the year.

Logan Thomas IMO is a poor man’s Cam Newton.  He has the size and strength, but I question if he has it between the ears.  He will have a harder time this year than last because he simply doesn’t have the weapons that he did.  Defenses are going to be testing him very early to see what he is made of.

FSU is working on bigger fish to fry. Reports from some of the FSU alumni who follow this closely report that Jim Delaney is a huge fan of adding FSU to the Big 10. He seems to be quite impressed that FSU is working toward AAU status. The CIC money awarded to research schools in in the billions. This would help FSU reach AAU status very rapidly.

I think the real story was your defense.  You allowed what… 13 pts total for both games?

I think he has the brains…  but keep in mind he hasn’t really played QB that much.  He was recruited as a TE and VT basically mislead him about their intentions…  lol

If you substitute Stinespring and O’Cain —-> For more competent people—> that would also help as well

I think both Stinespring and O’Cain are too predictable most of the time ... and they call “cute” plays at the wrong times…  raspberry

Foster has been too patient.  Who knows if he would be a good HC—-> but with our lackluster offense and our depreciating special teams —> we’d really be wrecked if he left us now…

I agree Clemson’s Defense really had VT figured out, but Bud Foster has no clue how to stop Clemson.  Tajh had the best numbers for a QB in the ACC as a Sophomore and I really don’t understand the lack of respect he gets.

And Boyd’s numbers were much better during the ACCG compared to the first meeting.

I’d say he’s in the top 2…  And I’m not saying Thomas is in the top 2—-> but just that it isn’t that “far out” to say that he is…  assuming you take his circumstances into account…

I think compared to other schools, despite our lack of identity on offense, Thomas has done well so far.  I feel like if i he was in a more coherent system he could put up even better numbers.

I think you’re both right.  Thomas is good, but he’s no Cam.  He’s got the ability to be very good and we’ll see what he can do with a little more experience.  The O-line may make that more difficult, especially when all the significant skill players are gone too.  Bad combo.

VT is the most confounding team.  They had their two worst offensive performances against a historically bad Clemson D.  I agree that SteinCain was very predictable.  Or like in 2010, losing a close game to a great Boise team then losing to JMU, I repeat J fn’ MU, then going on a tear through the league before getting blasted by Stanford.  And what the hell happened to Beamer Ball?  He’s still there, but VT special teams has been pretty bad recently.  They used to be an absolute terror.

I know this is heresy, but I believe VT’s string of 10+ win seasons may come to an end this year.  Everybody has a down year from time to time.

Well, our kicking gaming has definitely gone down the drain.  As to blocking kicks… I think that’s more of a fan favorite… some hype… Because i’ve seen us draw way too many “roughing the kicker” penalties for the odd block to really be worth it (lately)

I think the VT coaches simply aren’t “clutch”.

- Kansas Orange Bowl (They couldn’t stop our run game but Stinespring simply didnt FORCE them to stop it…)
- UGA Peach Bowl (we were owning them at half…  after their onside kick… then coupled with glennon and his turnovers…)
- boise st   (we could have basically run out the clock but on a 3rd down in the 4th we tried to pass…)
- michigan   letting danny coale make decisions about a fake punt AFTER calling a time out…  (and despite our defense playing lights out)

I’m really not one for excuses… but IMO all of those games were blown by bonehead coaching moves…    rolling the dice at the wrong time…  Les Miles is a master at taking appropriate risks…  And VT seems to take risks at the worst times…

Thomas is a good QB, but he needs to get more consistent. I watched him put together some terrific performances last season (Miami), but I also saw him play some terrible games (Duke).

He’s a great athlete that’s fairly new at QB. I think he can develop into a very good QB. I also wouldn’t want to blitz him if I were a safety.

He’s a good QB, but I think many draft experts have him rated higher than he deserves. His arm strength is impressive though.
