News flash to you, all college coaches care most about winning. It is somewhat illogical to say the BB only cared about winning and that is why FSU faltered. When you care about winning you should win.

Tell me how Bowden is more shady than Charley Pell and Danny Ford. I would love to hear about this. Their record at Clemson and Florida is a series of probabtions. Pell tried to commit suicide and failed at that. In short you can spare us the drama.

When proven shortly that Sandusky pimped out boys to wealthy donors to the football program, the NCAA won’t have to do any investigating. They can take the convictions and levy the enforcement. This is not hard, money from donors enables football program. It is a felony to pimp ten year old boys out. This is a little worse than Swahili classes.

If you don’t quite understand this yet, you will further down the road.

Lets try and keep up.

http://texas.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=61&tid=175747033&mid=175747033&sid=902&style=2

“Report out today says the Dept of Justice (DOJ) is likely to hit apeman St with very severe criminal charges for multiple violations of the MANN ACT also.

The MANN ACT is the interstate transport of persons for sexual purposes across state lines.

It is documented and proven that Penn St knew about and allowed the interstate transport of young boys across State lines on official Penn St charters to away games and Bowl Games (accompanied by Sandusky).

The DOJ and FBI have joined forces to prosecute Penn Stnto the fullest extent of the law for MANN ACT violations.

And the DOJ thinks they have a whale of a good case against PSU

Every sportswriter I’ve read on it says death penalty. They only differ on length. Some don’t say how long. One says forever! Among fans, there’s no clear consensus. Have any coaches weighed in?

The sportswriters have surely read the Freeh Report, and know the timeline. I doubt your average fan has bothered… or had the stomach.

Paterno did know about Sandusky, and did worse than nothing. Joe"Pa” actually helped Sandusky, by allowing or causing:
Sandusky to keep coaching at PSU for as long as he (Paterno) was H.C.
When Sandusky decided to retire, instead, he got an unprecedented retirement package for a coach:”

This is going to be a very long process. They first need to sort out the legal issues of this case and figure out exactly who was involved etc. Then, after all of the legal issues have been sorted out, figure out exactly how deep into the football program all of this went. After all of the information has been collected, then make a decision. The bad thing for PSU is that their name alone is tarnished forever. Does the Big 10 realize this and kick them out? Who knows.. this is going to take a while.

Here is my conflict:

This is based on the argument of “We should get rid of all of the people that were involved and not punish the clean players, coaches, vendors and everyone else that has a commercial contract with the school”

Consider these questions I ask:

1.  Is what happened at Penn State Worse than the typical issues that happen with athletics in the form of paying for players and improper gifting?

I think we can just about all agree to this.  I ask this question because there are minor violations that are not of the natural to take a school down.

2.  Was this a lack if institutional control?

Again, I think we can just about all agree on this one a resounding yes.

Here’s the final and most difficult question:

3.  If we took the path of only dealing with the actual individuals that hurt these kids and the University and did not punish the School or Penn State Football itself, then should we not only punish any player, coach donor, booster etc that participates in the illegal pay and a gifting, improper benefits and not the school?

If we agree that questions one and two are yes, then number three must result in a death penalty or something really close to punishment.

Really I don’t think it will matter in the end, Penn State’s name will now be forever tarnished.

Strip wins and post-season earnings that came as a result of the cover up if need be. That way it does not punish the current staff or kids. The rest of the enablers from the old Ped Staff will have their day in court and it will still cost PSU a ton of money in legal expenses, settlements and not to mention an eternal black eye. That would be my punishment, but if we are trying to figure out what the NCAA is gonna do based on their dealings in the past, then I’m just not gonna put too much thought into it, they are either way too strict or way too lenient.

It all comes down to moral values and integrity. Is paying players worse than anal raping ten year olds and pimping them out to rich football donors which in turn benefits the football program on a much higher level than paying players?

Does anyone really need to ponder this for very long?

From Dan Bernstein

“FYI: names are being x-checked w/Sandusky’s Second Mile, and there are other older adult men with “curious” relationships. Only the start”

http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-f…n-state-scandal

The President of the Second Mile Foundation, Jack Raykovitz, PhD, received direct information on Sandusky’s abuse.

He did nothing.

Raykovitz is a licensed psychologist, as indicated by his bio among other foundation board bios here.

Sports and the sexual abuse of childrens

In 1998, district attorney Ray Gricar chose not to prosecute Sandusky after reports about Sandusky and boys surfaced.

In 2005, Gricar went missing.

There was an abandoned car and a laptop recovered months later in a river; the hard drive was missing from the computer.

Gricar’s body was never found.

Disappearance of DA tied to Sandusky allegations

Currently there is an investigation of “a rumor that Jerry Sandusky’sSecond Mile Foundation, a non-profit organization aimed to serve underprivileged youths, was “pimping out young boys to rich (Penn State) donors.”

It is more complicated that that old friend.  This is such an unusual situation that the ruling bodies have never had to deal with this.

There is now no question of what happen and who was involved.  What is being discussed is what to do.  The school is going to pay a huge toll.  They already are.  The real question is should football be shut down for a period of time on top of everything that has happened or will happen to this institution.

http://content.usatoday.com/communities/campusrivalry/post/2012/07/ncaa-mark-emmert-death-penalty-penn-state/1

This is pretty much common sense but here is what the NCAA says.

““I’ve never seen anything as egregious as this in terms of just overall conduct and behavior inside a university and hope never to see it again,” Emmert said during the interview.

“This is completely different than an impermissible benefits scandal like happened at SMU, or anything else we’ve dealt with,” Emmert said. “This is as systemic a cultural problem as it is a football problem. “

It sounds like the NCAA is going to lay the wood too them.

FSU is working on bigger fish to fry. Reports from some of the FSU alumni who follow this closely report that Jim Delaney is a huge fan of adding FSU to the Big 10. He seems to be quite impressed that FSU is working toward AAU status. The CIC money awarded to research schools in in the billions. This would help FSU reach AAU status very rapidly.

I agree. I wonder if it will be only 1 year or maybe 2 without football. If Carolina got a bowl ban and 15 scholarships for having a coach working with an agent, what do you get for having a head coach actively covering up child molestation? If it is nothing then the NCAA is completely out to lunch.

Look not being condescending but football forums are sometimes behind the curve on social/political curves. Anybody making excuses for this should be subject to NAMBLA scrutiny.
