5) West Virginia QB Geno Smith was very impressive during the week. He is right around 6-3 and he has the frame to carry 225 pounds. The senior boasts a very live arm and his footwork was much better than I anticipated. Off the field, Smith has a great personality and he’s very focused on taking his play to a new level in 2012.
Sure Geno is in it, and doing well. But there are others. The LSU kid from UGA is big and unproven. I think he’s an interesting talent. The Ark QB should be very good.

Is it pretty set that M. Barkley is this season’s A. Luck? I’ve only seen a little bit of Barkley in action but I definitely plan on watching a few USC games this season.
Besides the obvious (and funny!) double entendre, here you have a post with the title “Manning Passing Academy” and the attached URL says: “matt-barkley-tyler-bray-impress-at-manning-passing-academy”... with zero mention by you of anything other than “Discuss-”... and then blaring out right smack in the middle of the article: West Virginia’s Geno Smith.
It is obvious to anyone who clicked on that, that you baited us all into looking at the article so that we could read the snippet about Geno.
And when called out on it, your innocent response was: “But there are others. The LSU kid from UGA is big and unproven. I think he’s an interesting talent. The Ark QB should be very good. I was just cultivating conversation.”
Cultivating conversation, my ass. Here is how much you care about “The LSU kid from UGA” or “The Ark QB”: “”.
Barkley is soft and won’t make it the season without getting hurt.
What makes you say that? USC returns 4 starters off an oline that gave up 8 sacks in 12 games last season, ranked 2nd nationally to only Boise State in sacks allowed.

Some people are just haters. Barkley started as a true freshmen in high school, started as a true freshmen at USC, where he led a comeback victory over Ohio St in the shoe. There is nothing to suggest at all the Barkley is “soft”.

My position on Barkley is because I’ve watched him play. He is surrounded by the best the west coast has to offer, and he still doesn’t fire me up. I’m not saying he’s not good. Actually I think he’s pretty good. But only because of the love affair the media has for USC, and the media needs USC to be good so they heavily promote it and Barkley.
I’m just a guy with an opinion. He could certainly prove me wrong. I doubt he does as I see USC incredibly overrated on a national scale. In the SEC they would be 4th best at best. And, in the Big 12 they be 3rd or 4th best. Talented? Yes, depth? not so much, coaching is problematic. But they play in a weak league.
