At Dabo.s 2012 Media Golf Tournament,  Dabo was asked about Sammy Watkins situation and if if could have playing time against Auburn.

Dabo said that Sammy has exceeded expectations as what he needs to do to get his discretion past him and that it was possible that he could play.  He didn’t say whether he would be required to sit out a portion of the game or not.

This is good news of course IF Sammy has made proper amends.  I believe he was a first time offender and hopefully got a major wake up call.

Clemson fans will be understanding naturally (In fact I forgave him the next day) and all the other fans will probably cry fowl. 

All I can say is Auburn was going to have their hands full as it was.  They had better score early because now that they have gone to a pro-set with no home run threats at RB,QB or WR they had better hope to not get into a track meet with us or it will be a slobber-knocker.

I thought the same at first too, but it happened VERY early in the spring and after thinking on it, it doesn’t make sense to carry that baggage all the way to the fall.  He’s a first time offender in PTI, and doing community service….he’s working it off.  If it happened closer to fall I could see a more severe punishment, and would call for it.

Swinney hands out the discipline, see Mike Bellamy sitting out of ACC champ, and Orange bowl…then being dismissed from the team.  He isn’t lax, he gives out what is deserved.

This is going to be one of those other fans that will not like it if Sammy Plays.  He will probably sit out for a qtr or maybe a half. Watkins has not been a problem case at all.  In fact he has been a solid citizen with no past incidents of misconduct.  If this was a repeat offender issue or if he was a problem child then it would be different.  Another thing to consider is that there are other punishments that can be done that do not effect playing time.  This event happened a few months ago and you have no idea what as already been done to Watkins.

I suggest hearing the whole story before passing judgement.

lol, I like the set-up to this thread. Now anyone that disagrees with Sammy not getting suspended can get blasted.

I wouldn’t say that AU has no home-run threats at RB/WR, they still have their 2nd leading rusher in Onterio McCalebb and their leading WR in Emory Blake to go along with both guards and the center on their oline from last season. They also return a solid TE in Lutzenkirchen. And Mike Blakely will get a lot of chances to shine.

This comes as a real shock I tell ya and really took me by surprise

All I know is that if Clemson wants to be successful, they need Sammy Watkins to stay healthy and get a defense… That defense last year was softer than a hush puppy.

Next thing you know Greg Reid will open for FSU, seat belt problem solved.
