If the ACC had accepted WVU’s request to join, do you guys think all the Clemson/FSU to Big 12 talk would have ever occurred?  I’m a WVU fan, so I’m talking from rose-colored glasses, but I would think that WVU would’ve brought enough stability from a football/basketball standpoint that the league wouldn’t have had teams flirting with other conferences?

Nope, we would have been content as adding WVU would have significantly increased our football.  I think a homerun for the ACC would have been WVU and Louisville.  They both bring football and basketball, rather then basketball and lacrosse.

“Wouldn’t have teams”*** Had to correct your past tense as its not over yet. LOL

I agree with Clemtgr but I am not confident Swofford would be able to leverage much more TV revenue if we got WVU, UL, ND and ABC school. My issue with the ACC, outside the pathetic officiating, scheduling and schools who siphon off dollars from the true sports schools, is the leadership in the ACC. I have ZERO confidence in Swofford and we need either new leadership OR go to a conference he is not in charge of.

Oh I agree with the leadership, I just think we’d be better off money wise and athletics wise with WVU and Louisville.  Leadership wise we’d be stuck in the same rut we have been for a LONG time.

I too think WVU would have been the right addition. Basing on what BC’s AD got caught saying though, ESPN said WVU does not get you any more money. Pitt and Cuse bring new markets. That was the point.
Notice the SEC went Mizzou over WVU? You think that was football related? It was all about KC and St Louis. Same with Pitt and NYC.

WVU would be a game I would be excited for every year no doubt. I also suspect VT, UVA and Maryland had a large opposition to them as well so why dont you blame others instead of Carolina for once.

I have nothing but respect for WVU sports.

I think we would be much better off with West Virginia in the ACC, especially from a competition and rivalry standpoint.  I have wanted them in the ACC all along.

I think the member schools that voted to not invited WVU made a terrible mistake.  WVU would have been a fine addition to the ACC sports portfolio.

The ACC is stupid if they chose to not include West Virginia… Bunch of arrogant @$$holes.

How do you know FSU didn’t also vote no? If accepting WVU meant less tv money per school would you be as supportive?

Also in favor of the WVU addition. They are solid in football and basketball.

I’m not terribly dissappointed in not getting WVU. The thing that dissappoints me is the the division alignment that could have the ACC more regional when the ACC added the latest members. I undertand that it was neccessary to fill out the empty space between Boston and DC and it got the most money from ESPN.

The problem is that the gate revenue could have been much greater when WVU comes to town than Syracuse.

If my sources are correct, and I’m sure they are, there was never an official vote of any kind to vote up or down on WVU. There was talk. Unofficial talk as to what if.

The result was at some point collectively everyone said yes with the exception of UVA, Duke and UNC. FSU, VT and MD were very much in the WVU camp.

The problem was WVU wanted a yes, and wanted then. Since they didn’t receive one, they moved on. Ironically, they received the same from the SEC.

It was a yes from both leagues, but not now. Moreover, the Big 12 was yes, and yes now. And, more money than the ACC but not as much as the SEC.

Obviously they picked the Big 12. Mainly because it was now.

And my source or I should say sources in this matter can’t get any better.

I have read articles indicating that FSU wanted WVU in the ACC pines, that is how I know.

WVU and UL would have made the ACC better but not enough for FSU and Clemson to remain in it. WVU made the best choice for itself.

The SEC was also told that Mizzou and A&M didn’t increase the pay day. SEC teams are supposedly going to make around 25 million when the SEC channel is up and running in two years. Right now UF makes 10 million off tier 3 with sunsports. That is 10 million FSU is missing out on due to crime boss Swofford keeping and giving away tier 3.

WVU can make more from tier 3 also in the Big 12, not sure how much more as West Virginia is a small state, where as Florida has 19 million people in it.

Another big problem with the ACC is the institutions and it seems the fans themselves can’t get it through their heads how corrupt crime boss Swofford’s office is. It is like talking to a brick wall,  nothing sticks.

FSU was very much pushing for WVU. This is a fact. Everything I said in the post above is a fact.

When I posed this question, I was specifically wondering what your reply would be.  I actually thought more people would take this position than just you, actually.

Seminole….. Nobody has left the ACC nor is that likely to happen so I am not sure what you are saying.
