The ACC is never really big on putting price on their great deals. We will check around and see if one of crime boss Swofford’s handlers have leaked a price. No doubt millions are waiting to watch football on youtube and each ACC team can expect at least a hundred bucks. The check is in the mail.
Let me guess you guys are not in your 20s or 30s and don’t live out of the country. This is the future of television. My kids already watch the ipad more than they watch the actual tv and this will give me access to stuff while abroad. This is about getting your product to eyeballs all over the world from where ever you are. Only Seminole could somehow spin this to be a bad thing.
Cable is a dead man walking as soon as ESPN gets the guts to abandon it. I suspect we will see that within the next 5 years when ESPN offers a la carte options straight to your internet device.
I won’t debate that youtube is the future of television….but you will have to have a LOT of views to make it worth your while money wise. I have a youtube channel that is enabled for ads the partner program, and i get literally fractions of a cent for a view.
Highlights and stuff like that, I think its a great idea, the exposure is great….I just don’t think they are going to make much money.
I think this is great for the Olympic sports because they’re hard to get on TV. I think anything they can do to allow fans to watch more events live is good. I’ll give the league office credit for this one, way to think outside the box. Hopefully they’ll put even more events on there in the future.

That wasn’t supposed to be a problem after the wonderful new contract we signed with ESPN. All the supporters of the contract pointed to increased exposure across the board….if that’s the case then what exactly are they going to put on Youtube?
ESPN is not showing all of the ACC’s tier 3 sports, they take what they want and what ever they don’t take, they give that back to the schools to do as they wish. The ACC found someone else to take more of these games off of the ACC’s hands.

Fair enough, but they’re never going to show every sporting event on TV. ESPN isn’t going to show a Track & Field Duel meet between Wake Forest and Virginia. So things like YouTube can be a place to show some of these things. Not saying the new contract is great or anything and this isn’t gonna make a lot of money.
I remember Mark Packer saying on the radio that when he worked for the Clemson radio network, he gave games away to radio stations to increase exposure. After a few years they were able to get people to pay for them and he more than quadrupled the number of radio stations carrying Clemson drastically increasing exposure. You tube is the same thing. Why anyone would complain about this is beyond me.
The ESPN deal guarantees all football and basketball will be on tv. Not the tuesday baseball game between BC and Maryland. This can do that.
It also gives access to folks overseas. There is nothing bad about this and I appreciate it getting posted. I did not know.
Well I dont quite get what you are saying but I am not saying that I care if Indians or Chinese watch…but I do like the fact that slowly we are developing media where those of us who travel around the world can follow without being tied to ESPN or some other network via cable. If Chinese people want to start watching…all the better.
The day we can completely cut the cable cord will be a good day in my opinion.
