Sorry, Scott.  The quotes were for his benefit.  Since he was having such trouble understanding why he should apologize for his statement or why his comment was unjust and unsupportable, and how a statement like “Nothing that we haven’t known about Swinney for a minute now. Hypocrisy at it’s finest” implies that not only is Dabo being a hypocrite in Sammy’s case but he does it so frequently that he has elevated it to an art form and it should be expected,  I felt like he needed all the context I could give him so he could follow along.
I’m done with this.  My point’s been made.  I respect all opinions if the person can honestly argue their point.  I have no respect for flamers and that’s what his attack was all about.  It that kind of BS that made the ESPN-Montessori boards intolerable.

Really shouldn’t hurt all that much honestly.  Would love to have him but our recieviers are good and deep.  Only thing its really hurting is his heisman run.  PUT IN #83 D-ROD!!!!!

It is harsh, but glad Dabo continues to separate Clemson from dirty SEC schools.  He keeps Clemson clean.

FSU is working on bigger fish to fry. Reports from some of the FSU alumni who follow this closely report that Jim Delaney is a huge fan of adding FSU to the Big 10. He seems to be quite impressed that FSU is working toward AAU status. The CIC money awarded to research schools in in the billions. This would help FSU reach AAU status very rapidly.

If this was the FSU delegation, the excuses would already be flying…......We are good enough to beat Auburn without Sammy and I don’t think many of us Tiger fans will debate that….........We just want to watch him play because he is so exciting….......But Dabo did the right thing.

As I said, I expect Martavis Bryant to play a lot and very well.  Not many freshmen come in ready to go like Sammy.  Martavis showed us a lot of promise last year and I expect him to have a big game.  Nuk Hopkins will still be the cement….....but we are fine.

Sammy is our best player and you always feel the loss of your best player. however, it is much easier to offset Sammy than Ellington or Boyd so his lack of PT may hurt but it is not a disaster.

As for Slappy, I’m sure he is a USuC homer but you really can’t compare Swinney and the ole ball sack. While I am not the biggest Dabo fan, and he is not as good a coach as the ole ball sack, I would not trade Dabo for Spurrier. He is a prick, has always been a prick, throws his players/coaches under the bus constantly, looks miserable 24/7 and has no pulse on anything but winning. He could care less what a player does except on the field.

the ONLY reason a university/fan base would put up with a jerk like the ole ball sack is because he is a really good coach, which clearly he is. if he was even marginal less successful, they would have gotten rid of him several years ago. so as Slappy has illustrated, as long as he can win, much like KY with Calipari (except Calipari actually has a personality), who cares what the players do or if the coach is an absolute dipwad.

I have known Slappy for a few years and I promise you he is no USC homer.  He is an outstanding Clemson fan.

Good read.  Sammy did just what Namath did.  Owned up to it and took it on the chin, and will rise up to be better then he was before.

I go back and forth, is it harsh, is it not and ultimately settle on a sort of peace with Dabo’s decision.  Because I love the discipline.  Its the reason we haven’t had many problems, and probably won’t have much more.

Ha!! I can’t believe all the optimism coming from y’all right after the best player to ever come through Clemson gets put on the bench for a huge matchup against a tough SEC opponent who won a national championship 2 years ago.

Which game did Sammy Watkins miss last year?? Was it NC State?? We all know how that turned out… South Carolina shut him down… We know how that turned out… West Virginia held him under 100 yards… and we all know how that turned out.

Sammy Watkins was the Clemson offense last year… If the other team can limit his touches then there’s a good chance Clemson could lose… What’s gonna happen if he’s not even in the game??

Don’t get me wrong… I want Clemson to beat Auburn into the ground… But I can’t understand the complete lack of appreciation for what he does in that offensive scheme.

I know you would like to think those other receivers are just as good… but it’s no contest… Sammy Watkins messed up big time and he better pray Clemson isn’t 0-1 going into game 2 against Ball State… If they are it will be his fault.

Our other receivers were not as developed as they are this year in those games, and AE was not 100% last year.  The coaches have said Bryant has just as much talent as Watkins, just hasn’t shown it so fast like Watkins did.  And Hopkins is supposedly better then everyone this year.

We’ll be fine, and we’ll score points.

We’ll see I guess… I don’t think scoring points will be an issue… Put plenty up last year… Still had 4 losses.

I think Dabo may be using Sammy’s situation as a motivation tool for the defense.  I have giving this a little thought and I think that if Dabo truly thought Sammy was the only chance he had to win this game against Auburn that he would find a way play him and deal with the consequences…...

The defense has something to prove after the Orange Bowl.  Dabo nneds to know what Venables and our defense are made of right now and Sammy’s situation really lights a fire on the defense….....

Also, we have arguably the best Wide Receiving corps in tha Nation with Sammy Watkins starting….........Wanna know something?...Without Watkins, we still have arguable the best wide receiving corps in the nation and at worse a top 3….............

If we lose this game, I seriously doubt that it will be due to Watkins sitting out.

Y’all are full of yourselves… They’re good and Sammy puts em over the top… but the other receivers aren’t any better than what a lot of schools got.

It’s the offense that makes the players… The players don’t make that offense.

That kid y’all call nook nook is good… but the others are aight… not great.

Oh yeah… and sitting out sammy watkins to prove a point to the defense??? Really?? Don’t you think it mighta been the drugs in his car… That’s a little bit of a reach.

Name me a better receiver corp in the Nation with or without Watkins…........Southern California may be the closest and that is it

without Sammy Watkins… USC, Tennessee, West VA, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Georgia… even FSU would have more talent… maybe not production but certainly talent…
