So you’re telling me the Big East Commish was lying when he was talking about how great of an environment to was that night?
The two 50+ yard completions USF hit barely got a sound out of the crowd and they only showed extreme close ups of them, but I didn’t know it was that bad.
Has HD TV killed the vast majority of stadium watching fans?
Yes. It also breeds those that go to games to just drink in parking lots, sit down the whole game, get offended at people yelling near them, and woo hooers. Its ruining the atmosphere.
FSU does not have a problem this extreme with attendance, but I’ve noticed this happening at FSU also. A lot of people have become habitually late to games, not uncommon for people just arriving 30 minutes after kick off.
Another thing that makes me shake my head in disbelief is all the people texting and not even watching the game. They’ll pay good money for a ticket, arrive late and leave at halftime. I’ve especially noticed this at basketball games.
Yep, same at Clemson Garrett. People can’t find their damn seat until 5mins into the first. Really people? Get there early, be loud, its not that hard instead of climbing over me when I’m trying to watch the game and cheer on my team. Its social hour these days not football.
I agree with you guys…pretty much unless you are Alabama, everyone is starting to see attendance declines at the lesser games. Obviously less traditional schools like USF are struggling more than a Clemson or FSU.
I think the Economy combined with TV, and combined with lesser opponents is really hurting the gate.
I wonder though with TV money constantly growing, do admin’s care? Will we see stadiums shrink like Stanford and Cal did?
Aparently today’s Clemson vs Furman game is technically a sell out lol we’ll see if everyone shows up. I guess Sammy Watkins coming back draws crowds. Should be another boring second half like last week.
There was a lot of talk here in St. Louis, when the Mizzou fans were learning the particulars of the SEC, about the No Readmittance policy at SEC stadiums. Like a lot of places they would leave at halftime pound some drinks and head back in. Flask sales quadrupled.
I think Miami should build a 35-40k seat stadium somewhere near campus and then play their FSU and other big games out at Dolphins stadium. Again though they dont seem to care. I guess it is TV money.
But in the SEC there’s a big game every weekend… Look at the Florida games… Big crowd last week, big crowd against Tennessee, and they’ll continue to play in front of a crowd because they’re all big games… FSU and Clemson next Saturday will be rockin’... For arguments sake, let’s put FSU in the SEC East and see what games would fill the stadium as much as Clemson will this weekend… Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Mizzou, etc.
What I’m trying to say is that Wake Forest, Duke, and BC just don’t do it for people down here.

Then go to the SEC…what do you want any of us to say? Nobody forced you here. You wanted in. You had the choice.
