First of all, I like this guy’s name, reminds me of Vad “the Impaler” or something else that’s bad ass. He just got his first start of the season against UNC and behind Vad, with a lot of big plays on special teams, GT scored the most points in one game since Paul Johnson arrived.

Not sure how many of you regularly watch GT, but this year there is a lot more emphasis on the pass and they also have a pistol formation that they use (Nevada). Basically, the offense is more different than the same. I always liked Tevin Washington, the former starting QB, but it was about time he gave way to the more superior athlete Vad Lee.

He is big, hard to bring down, and can throw the deep ball. UNC should have gotten him. That was on B. Davis and his staff. Of course, Lee is from Durham, NC, and the coverage of UNC’s NCAA problems was everywhere all the time in this area then. It actually hasn’t let up too much now at some places (News and Observer).

I didn’t see the game but I saw 68 points against UNC and that got my attention.

^ That got a lot of peoples’ attention. Defense was optional for both teams. 68 - 50. GT scored more than UNC’s bball opponent the night before.

GT has another good one that is up and coming and that is Darius Jennings who was going to play wide receiver at Alabama but Tech convinced him to come and be a quarterback there.

FSU has beaten the SEC champ at least 8 times, and we don’t even play in the SEC, lol:

FSU beat the 1987 SEC champs 34-6
FSU beat the 1988 SEC champs 13-7
FSU beat the 1989 SEC champs 22-14
FSU beat the 1993 SEC champs 33-21
FSU beat the 1994 SEC champs 23-17
FSU beat the 1996 SEC champs 24-21
FSU beat the 2000 SEC champs 30-7
FSU beat the 2013 SEC champs 34-31

Give it up for the SEC, a conference which almost beat FSU

You sure you are not thinking of Justin Thomas?

Another thing GT has done a lot this year is use 2 QBs. I can see both Lee and Thomas playing a bunch.

Nah Jennings was supposed to be a great quarterback for GT. He right now is behind Lee and caught two of Lee’s touchdown passes against UNC. They say he is a great option type quarterback also who can throw.

Bama wanted him for his speed at wide receiver. I think his problem is that Lee is just beat him out for now. Jennings can play quarterback though.

In my opinion, the most underappreciated player in the country the past 5 years was Josh Nesbitt. That guy was as tough as they come. I think CPJ got a little jaded by his success with Nesbitt, and is now finally realizing he needs to have a little more variety in his offense to succeed. He doesn’t have another Nesbitt and probably won’t. He might have figured it out just in time to save his job.

GT was willing to let Lee be a QB. Most BCS schools recruiting him were not. I am pretty sure that includes Carolina.

That is how GT should make their name. Get players that fit their system.

Being in Atlanta and being the Georgia Tech beat writer last season, Vad Lee has always been BY FAR the most talented QB on Tech’s roster (although Justin Thomas now holds the distinction as the fastest). His problem early in his career was his understanding of the offense and his propensity to turn the ball over. It appears he has made significant strides in both of those areas, and he has now emerged as one of the most dynamic playmakers in the conference.
