I think the last line of the article sums up why he was fired. Saying that, it’s also hard to see them letting anyone go before at least 4 years without some extraordinary event occuring. Bad time for the Buffalos to go coach shopping with Auburn, Tenessee, NC State, Southern Miss, BC, division III schools and other more desirable jobs open.
I’ve visited that area a couple of times and the country is beautiful.

Pothead?
Not anymore…but I could be a recreational partaker. ;^ )
As far as the topic goes…I don’t know. Not winning a home game at all as a head football coach will definitely get all the wrong people involved in discussions about your job security. I really hope it wasn’t as McCartney says it is…
That’s a pretty significant allegation with loose evidence. They hired him so they thought highly of him at one point and certainly wanted him to do well. Add to that the point that he didn’t win one home game this year and it seems like flimsy evidence for such an allegation. He may know something I don’t know which would be sad if he’s correct. Ellis Johnson got fired after one season for pretty much the same thing.
I do think he should have been given another year, but clearly was not an issue of race.
Chizik got fired two years after winning a national championship, and one year after leading a team which over-achieved. I think most logical people would agree that his firing was more egregious. It is simply the current nature of college football.
Yeah but he was one of their own. Colorado produces almost NO D1 talent and I think he was left with a mess. I have no evidence to say that it was racism, but former ECU coach Steve Logan is on the radio here and was on Colorado’s staff when Embree was a player. He is surprised he wasnt given more a chance as he said it is a hard place to win.
Incidentally, the staff they were on under McCartney had Miles, Barnett and Logan among others out there when Colorado was at the top. Good coaches go along way.
Who knows, maybe it was racism, maybe it wasn’t, but there sure is no evidence to support that claim. What there is significant evidence of is losing.
“One of their own” or not, Colorado has been HORRIBLE the last 2 years…even more so than they have been recently…& he was @ the helm. We can argue that he didn’t get enough time to bring in his players or get his staff solidified, but when you’re 3-10/2-7) in your inaugural season, & get worse the following year by 2 games (1-11/1-8), & only have 1 home win over both seasons, that doesn’t bode well in a WIN NOW CFB environment. True, Colorado doesn’t produce a lot of homegrown talent, but it is possible to win @ Colorado…they’re 21st all-time in wins, 27th in winning %, & from ‘89-‘95 (the beginning of their current slide) they were 140-64-4 w/a 4 division titles, 4 conference titles & 1 national title.
I think this is one of 2 things…(1) Embree doing the right things, but not winning b/c of inherited limitations, & the school/fans having no patience, or (2) Embree not winning, & the powers that be knowing his inherited limitations, but think/know he’s NOT taking the right steps to get the program back on track. If it’s the former, that’s a tough break, & he probably should have been given more time, but if it’s the latter, then there’s nothing wrong w/him being fired.

Since pot is now legal, I say they order a bunch of hot dogs and brownies, get high, munch out and settle this thing the Colorado way

Deal. We’re all meeting at CUT4L’s house and smoking out. Discussion topics will be provided by Seminole and Pines.
One thing we do know is McCartney opens up pandoras’ box wherever he shows up. I think it is safe to say he will be going into real estate after this one.
I live in Boulder and yes it’s a nice place. My son was a CU fan and we went and watched a couple games per year but their program became an uncompetitive joke and we haven’t bought a ticket in a while now.
No racism here on our part, we just don’t want to waste our money on watching a team lie down.
