My thoughts were he’s probably a year or two away from being ready to run his program but that he would draw some interest from teams who need to become more exciting. I thought Kentucky would be one, but N.C. State certainly qualifies as a program in need of some flair.
The local news here is saying NCSU can finish this pretty quick. That makes me think it will be either Dykes or Morris. Just as Clem says…. “we’ll see”. I do know NCSU wants an energetic coach who can go out and sell the school to recruits. Morris may be that
State always follows UNC. Whenever UNC makes a coaching change in football, State does the same. UNC gets an offensive minded, excitable and aggressive coach and State sees what we have and then wants one for themselves. I thought 5-1 against UNC would satisfy State fans…I’ve always believed Tom O’brien would get you 7-9 wins a year consistently but never be in the national spotlight. Looking at who’ve they’ve interviewed…these guys are clones of Fedora. If you truly claim to be the true “flagship” university of North Carolina then stop following UNC’s lead!

Chad Morris a clone of Fedora? Laughable. His strategies came from Mahlzan but he’s been running the same offense for quite some time now.
Depends on definition of “clone”. I’m just pointing out that State’s candidates all have the same qualities as Fedora. Not that they’re his protege’s or anything like that. Fedora got the ball rolling at Florida and Oklahoma State. Defense is what needs work!
I heard yesterday that Morris withdrew his name from consideration. I think he was using this as practice for when he interviews for a real HC job one day.

Zing. Damn. Really? You think a 2-4 million a year job is not a real HC job?
What is a real job? I would take NCSU over Auburn or Arkansas any day.
Realistic expectations and a better chance to win.
TCU, Texas, Texas Tech, OK State or other surrounding schools from his roots. Most of those will take a time to open up. If a school like Tennessee was smart they would throw all their money at Gary Patterson to get him. That would free up a desirable job in Morris’ home state. I’m not saying NCSU isn’t a good gig, but I doubt he would go to a rival school in the same division as Clemson. When he leaves, I think it’ll be for a higher profile job, and probably in Big 12 country.
