This is heating up big time.

I expect GT and N.C. State to be the two teams on Delany’s radar. Don’t think UVA and VT will break from each other, nor will Duke and Carolina.

Not convinced this happens though. Still a fair amount of traditionalists within the Big Ten that are very concerned about the loss of rivalry games. We’ll see. Definitely more to come here.

Options are limited. If they think they can get UVA/VT or UNC/DUKE to split from each other, more power to them. I don’t see that though. Other than that, N.C. State and Kansas would probably be their targets for No. 16. This is eventually all going to end. If there’s not enough mutual interest, we might actually be done (for awhile, at least).

Neither party would be interested in that. For good reasons on both ends.

Kansas or Mizzou are at least plausible. GT too I guess although please tell me how Minnesota, Northwestern or Iowa games are gonna help GT with their problems.
If anything that alone sums up how stupid this all is. NC State in the Big 10? Hey anything can happen but I would laugh my ass off if it did.

Sadly, that’s basically realignment in a nutshell.

Nothing says Midwest football like North Jersey.
Nothing says Southern football like baseball-first Missourians.
Nothing says Pac-10 football like Mormons.

Most of these are shotgun Vegas weddings done without mutual love. They don’t make sense. They’re not good fits. For fans, it stinks. But it’s the lay of the land right now.

I think Delaney wants the Atlanta market, lots of B10 alums there. This would also squeeze ND a lot, which is Delaney’s ultimate goal or so it seems. They could pick up another school from NC, VA but the Atlanta market is the driver.

UNC and Duke are not joined. More likely UNC and UVa are. UNC’s AD recently sent out an email to supporters saying UNC would be in the ACC for the next 60 years, but followed that with UNC will keep their eyes open. All will hinge on Maryland’s exit fee. If it enables others to leave mark my words, and laugh if you want to… UNC will end up in the SEC. I have no doubt that’s how it will end if UNC leaves. I also will add the ACC will be over if that happens, because UNC is the keystone to the ACC. Deny that also if you care to, but it’s the god honest truth.
