Clowney by a mile.  I’ve never really watched much of his tape but his speed in those tapes was amazing.  I felt like RN’s tape was more missed blocks then anything.  Clowney just absolutely manhandles some blockers directly to the QB.

Clowney hands down. I have seen Nkemdeche play on several occasions and he was good but not dominant on a consistant basis. Teams did start running away from him, however.

Clowney but not by a long shot. Different type players. RN is more of a 5 tech who can play some 3. Clowney is a pass rushing phenom but not as good inside.

Both are unreal good and are impact players worthy of their pedigrees.

Clowney has much better quickness off the ball and a much better technique. Nkemdiche isn’t as good with his hands and really doesn’t have much technique besides pure bull rush. You can see in his highlights that he gets stopped by the OL quite a bit but is able to make the tackle in pursuit. A lot of his TFLs came when the OL missed a cut block or didn’t bother to block him at all. Both are really good, but Clowney is on a completely different level.

VERY, VERY few HS players have good technique. You can’t compare Clowney today versus RN today. Clowney played too high and just out-physicaled his opponents in HS, just like most elite athletes. So, RN (who I don’t care for given his pathetic recruiting situation with MY team but is nonetheless a tremendous player), who has never played a down in college, is no where near the level of a guy who has had two years of college coaching, weight training, etc??? That’s an insane perspective.

The answer is Clowney, but Nkemdiche is a more “complete”/balanced player heading into college. What I mean by that is that he is better at defending against the run than Clowney was initially. Clowney is a once in a lifetime talent when it comes to rushing the passer, though, and he is now amazing at shooting gaps in the run game as well.

Clowney is also immune to helmet to helmet penalties

With respect given to the new kid this isnt really a close argument…JD may have had the best high school film on defense ever…

finally got around to watching the film, and its pretty obvious that clowney has way better technique. RN just out powered everyone….which would have been fine in the ACC but good luck in the SECw clown shoes
