I was listening to the guys’ show on the Southern Pigskin Radio Network this week and they had a giant debate going about the best sports movie ever so I thought I would turn that into the best college football movie ever.
I probably am forgetting some, but these were the first that popped into my mind.
Rudy is by far my favorite movie of all-time. My dad and I watched that movie with great regularity when I was young, and it always resulted in us crying at the end. Just a tremendous film.

Agreed! I haven’t seen all of the films on the list but Rudy was great! (It never went to the box office, right???)
My dad is a Syracuse / Notre Dame fan… I remember watching it with him—and he rarely watches movies… haha
I’ve only seen Waterboy and the Express. The express was good until I find out later that he didn’t play for the NC his senior year. It really made it seem like that was his last year there. Good movie, but I still voted for the Waterboy, funny as hell. Who doesn’t love Captain Insaneo?
The Program - Filmed in Columbia, SC and Williams Brice Stadium.
Remember the Titans - Portrayed Gamecock QB Ron Bass (Sunshine).
Rudy would have to be at the top though.

I remember when they filmed The Program. I wasn’t there but had friends who were and told me about it.
I remember Ron Bass as a good QB, though I was pretty young when he played. I thought that was interesting when I saw the movie and they called his name.
They also filmed part of The Program on Duke’s campus and in Durham. A friend of mine who was at Duke at the time is in the background of a restaurant scene. Said he was there for hours.
