GT does now that the chess master is there.
UVA use to and so did Maryland (well they flexed a lot) before the DC change last year.
ND did, then they didn’t, then they did, then they didn’t and now they are again now that Kelly brought his DC from Cincy (where they ran the 3-4.)
Red,
How do you think GT will handle this transition to 3-4?
i don’t know enough about their line play. lb is also very important.
the line has to be able to handle 2 gaps, and that was a mixed bag at uva. seemed to always have 1 that was good or great but the other 2 seemed to be lacking and VT ran right at those 2, quickly getting their rb’s into the 2nd level.
at first at uva he had too many big, not laterally quick lb’s but over the years he started moving to more mobile lb’s.
the d will be a bend don’t break cover 2 where the safety positions are interchangeable. he will blitz some but it’s not like the steelers 3-4 zone blitz.
20 hours of practice a week. well we already know pj is the boss and his offense is his no. 1 priority. the 3-4 will need lots of practice, will it get it? if it doesn’t how does groh handle it?
going to fun to watch. i can’t think of a worse pair to have beers with after work.
