Here is a list of conferences in order of collective strength of schedule based purely on scheduling FBS vs. scheduling FCS teams.

Kudos to the Sun Belt Conference which has, on average, scheduled more FBS teams than any other conference for week 1.

1.  Sun Belt Conference
2.  SEC & Big 12
4.  Big 10
5.  Pac 10
6.  MWC & Conference USA
8.  Big East
9.  WAC
10.  MAC
11.  ACC

You guys are funny… my post clearly says “week 1”, and this little list is based strictly on scheduling FBS vs. scheduling FCS.  You can’t rank any of the teams within the FBS yet for strength of schedule, because no games have been played yet.

I’m not a fan of FBS teams scheduling cupcake FCS teams, therefore I wanted to point out which conferences have done the better job NOT doing that (for week 1).  smile

Maybe later today or tomorrow, I’ll post the whole season.  I have a lot of numbers yet to input… still have to enter the entire FBS schedule by hand for the upcoming season.

are you going to do a running list week by week as games are played?

Dude!  I love ya, but you’re killing me:  “Maybe later today or tomorrow, I’ll post the whole season.”

[scratches his head]  Well if I post the whole season tomorrow for comparing conferences’ FBS vs. FCS schedules… why would I repost it every week as games are played?

[scratches his head again]  Unless you’re asking if I’m going to post my rankings every week like last year?

Here is what I’m going to do with my rankings.  I’m going to post the top 25 here every week as long as people are still interested in seeing them.  However, I’m going to post the complete weekly rankings (all 120 teams), plus complete weekly rankings for all 11 conferences, plus complete weekly strength of schedule for all 120 teams over on my own website.

Fiercey:  Did you ever finish you’re top 25 standings from last year based on your own formula?  I thought it was well done and would love to see the final results.

Thanks very much, Evan.  Yes, I do.

I’m still working on my website, so a lot of the pages there don’t have content yet.  On the Football page, I only have data for 2009 Week 15 on there (final rankings, which is what you’re looking for)... so the “2010” button and none of the other “Week” buttons do anything yet.  The “About” button on that page works though, and has a comparison of my rankings vs. those of the humans and the BCS computers.  Some things may not look great on older browsers yet.  Feel free to look around… just keep in mind it’s not done yet.  This site is really just going to be a place for my hobbies: football, coaching, guitar, writing, etc.
