SouthernPigskin.com Recruiting Analyst Luke Stampini talks with 2011 prep prospect Rashad Greene.
This coming fall there will be a new player added to the mix in talented 2011 class in South Florida. Moving from Georgia this summer, St. Thomas Aquinas wide receiver Rashad Greene looks primed to become one of the top pass catchers for his class in Florida.
This is 6-foot, 165-pounders first time living in South Florida, but he has some local ties as his father attended Dillard High School. All reports indicate the transition as been fairly smooth for Greene.
“Everything has been going good,” said Greene. “Practice has been a lot of work, but I like it. I’m learning from the best and that’s exciting to be coached by a former NFL player. It’s all fun when I’m on the field.”
The coach that has Greene excited is long time Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Chris Carter. Greene discussed what he likes about Carter the coach.
“He definitely knows what he’s talking about, he pushes me a lot and that’s what I like about him. He pushes me so I can be up to the best of my abilities and that’s what I like, someone pushing me.”
Greene has posted times in the forty in the 4.4-second range. Greene feels he brings more to the field than just speed though, and described what time of receiver he is.
“I’m a fast receiver, that has good hands and kind of smooth.”
Though official offers cannot be mailed to members of the class of 2011 until September 1, Greene has been getting attention from some top programs already.
“I talked with Georgia, Florida, Georgia Tech, and Notre Dame in brief conversations and things like that,” said Greene.
Growing up in Georgia, Greene still had a part of his mind in the Sunshine State when it came to rooting for teams.
“I always like the Florida teams like Miami and Florida, I liked Georgia too.”
Greene’s first chance to show fans in South Florida what kind of player he is comes August 29 when St. Thomas Aquinas travels to the campus of Ohio State University to face Upper Arlington in a game to be televised nationally.
“It will be a new experience for me, but I’m very excited and ready to play,” said Greene.

We at SoFLAFootball.com pride ourselves on seeing each and every one of the top prospects in person, if not during the fall in a game from the sidelines, at a camp, combine, or 7-on-7 event. Unlike other sites we do not base our evaluations solely on film or highlights. We want to feel the speed of the game, verify the caliber of talent a prospect if facing, and measure up prospects by being right next to them.
