Canes Blow Over Bulls

*The Miami defense came to play. The front four harrassed South Florida quarterback B.J. Daniels all afternoon long, forcing him to less than 50% passing and holding him to less than 80 yards through the air. For as fast and athletic as the Bulls are, Miami had the advantage in both those areas and it was especially evident when the Hurricanes were on defense.

*While Jacory Harris has had more productive days throwing the football, he did a good job of managing the game. We all know Harris is capable of 320 yard plus, four-touchdown games, but with those efforts have often come interceptions. With his running game and defense providing big plays, Harris had a very efficient game, not an easy thing to do against a defense as talented as South Florida's. He avoided the big mistake and didn't force anything downfield. Both of his touchdown passes were thrown with great touch.

*Miami really flexed their depth at running back against South Florida. Damien Berry rushed for 114 yards, Graig Cooper added 83 yards and Javarris James scored two touchdowns. The Hurricanes came at the Bulls in waves out of the offensive backfield.

*You have to love the potential of this rivalry. The stands were packed, the teams were energized and you can tell many of these young men played against each other in high school and grew up in the same areas. There was speed and athleticism all over the field. Miami/South Florida is an emerging series that is fun to watch.

*Very rarely is South Florida beaten at the line of scrimmage and overpowered by a more physical team. That was the case on Saturday against Miami. The Bulls had trouble stopping the run and protecting quarterback B.J. Daniels.
