*If you would have told me Ryan Mallett wouldn't throw a single touchdown pass and Arkansas would win this football game by 17 points, I would have laughed. But the Razorbacks did just that, rushing for four touchdowns and stringing together a nice defensive effort en route to their fifth win of the season. Give the Razorbacks a lot of credit for winning a game in a way that isn't necessarily condusive to their strengths. That's the sign of a good football team.

*Mistake-free football wins games in the SEC. Against Steve Spurrier's Gamecocks, Arkansas had zero turnovers and committed just one penalty for five yards. The penalty showing is especially impressive considering the Razorbacks entered Saturday ranked 11th in the SEC in penalties per game with over eight. Great focus and poise today from the Hogs.

*After a disappointing season to date, All-SEC tight end D.J. Williams stepped up in a huge way and showed what he is capable of. He entered the game with just 170 yards receiving, then caught seven passes for 137 yards against South Carolina. Williams is one of the most dynamic talents in the nation. It was good to see him get back on track and show similar production from his sophomore season where he caught 58 passes for 699 yards.

*The Razorbacks gave up some yards, particularly to USC quarterback Stephen Garcia, but the bottom line for any defense is how many points you allow. Arkansas gave up just 16 as they stepped up, for the most part, in key situations. Considering the potential of their offense, a defensive effort that limits the opponent to just 16 points puts the Razorbacks in a good situation to win. The Hogs' earned a safety late in the third quarter that pushed the margin to a two possession game.

*It was a sloppy performance for South Carolina at times, as the Gamecocks were called for seven penalties and gave up a safety, among other miscues. With two consecutive lopsided losses, an 18-point loss to Tennessee and a 17-point loss to Arkansas, South Carolina has lost some of their mojo.
