*You have to give redshirt freshman quarterback E.J. Manuel a hand. Making his first start of his career, Manuel was calm, confident and efficient. He completed 15 of 20 passes for 220 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He had a great command of the offense and was in rhythm with offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher. Manuel filled in quite admirably for injured starter Christian Ponder. He has a bright future.

*FSU sophomore running back Jermaine Thomas is on a roll. He rushed for 149 yards and a touchdown against Wake Forest. In his last three games, he has rushed for 454 yards and four scores. So much for the Seminoles not being able to run the football. The offensive line and the tailbacks have really settled into a groove. Rodney Hudson and the 'Nole offensive line was blowing Wake Forest off the ball on Saturday. The front five has definitely taken major steps forward in their run blocking the last few weeks.

*The Seminoles played their second best game of the season on Saturday, the first being the road upset of then 7th ranked BYU in week three. Florida State was consistent, had success on both sides of the line of scrimmage and played physical on both offense and defense. Give the FSU coaches a lot of credit, both for their gameplan to allow E.J. Manuel to be successful and their way of defending Wake Forest quarterback Riley Skinner.

*It's hard not to get excited when Florida State true freshman Greg Reid has the football in his hands. Reid, a corner who doubles as a return man, scored on a 68-yard punt return on Saturday. He has moves in the return game that remind you of some of the Seminole athletes of old. You have to wonder if the FSU offensive coaches will ultimately get him involved.

*It was a tough senior day for Riley Skinner, one of the best winners in ACC history. Along with coach Jim Grobe, Skinner has been the catalyst for Wake Forest's program turnaround in recent years. He will go down as one of the all-time greats in league history. As a group, this is the best senior class in program history. Congratulations to those young men.
