SouthernPigskin.com Recruiting Analyst Luke Stampini talks with 2011 prep prospect John Harris.
Official offers to prospects in the 2011 class went out last week and one of the prospects to land a pair of early offers was Boynton Beach defensive end John Harris. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound Harris reeled in a local offer as well one from the SEC.
“I know from Miami and South Carolina, they have offered me a full scholarship,” said Harris.
While Harris would prefer to stay in state to play his college ball, he is open to leaving the Sunshine State. I don’t mind (leaving the state), I’d like to (stay in state), but I don’t mind,” explained Harris. Harris, still new to the recruiting process, admitted other than those two schools, he does not know what other colleges have been sending letters.
The Boynton Beach product has a frame that can carry much more weight in the future, but right now, Harris is confident in his abilities despite his slender build. “I think I’m the best pass rusher (in the county).”
This season Harris wants to prove that boastful claim with his only personal goal for the season. “Try to get a lot of sacks. I don’t know how many I want, but try to get a lot of sacks this year.”
Harris also wants to help lead his team to the playoffs this season. The Tigers are idle this week, but face a very talented Delray Beach Atlantic team that will be a good measuring stick September 17. It’s a game the Tigers will be underdogs as they take on their rivals from the south.
“That doesn’t really bother me, because I think if we come together as a team we will do good.”

We at SoFLAFootball.com pride ourselves on seeing each and every one of the top prospects in person, if not during the fall in a game from the sidelines, at a camp, combine, or 7-on-7 event. Unlike other sites we do not base our evaluations solely on film or highlights. We want to feel the speed of the game, verify the caliber of talent a prospect if facing, and measure up prospects by being right next to them.
