Jeremy Hillman
SouthernPigskin.com SEC Writer

SouthernPigskin.com SEC Writer Jeremy Hillman previews week ten in the SEC.

As we enter the end of the third quarter of the season, the big games keep coming. Week 10 of the SEC will help decide the SEC West and further determine the bowl pecking order for the conference. Will LSU challenge Alabama? Who will come out with a victory in the Arkansas versus South Carolina clash? Here are my thoughts on those games, and more, in this week’s SEC game previews:

Jeremy Hillman’s Results:

Last Week Straight up: 5-2 (71%)
Last Week Against The Spread: 3-4 (43%)

Overall Season Straight Up: 56-11 (84%)
Overall Season Against The Spread: 38-20 (61%)

WEEK TEN

DO NOT MISS THESE GAMES:

LSU at Alabama
(Saturday, November 7th, 2009 – 3:30 CBS)
Predicted Game MVP: Alabama DB Javier Arenas
Bottom Line: This one is huge, and both teams will be fired up. The difference will be that Alabama will be able to run the ball consistently, LSU will not. The Tigers will hit on a couple pass plays to keep it close early, but the Tide will grind out another win behind RB Mark Ingram and their hard hitting defense.
Predicted Score: Alabama 28 LSU 19 (line: Alabama -8)

South Carolina at Arkansas
(Saturday, November 7th, 2009 – 12:20 SEC Network )
Predicted Game MVP: Arkansas QB Ryan Mallett
Bottom Line: This should be entertaining. Arkansas has a dynamic offense and a struggling defense. South Carolina has a solid defense and a struggling offense. Which weakness will hurt which team the most? Arkansas will pull this one out at home, behind the arm of Ryan Mallett. The South Carolina offense won’t be able to put enough points on the board to win this one.
Predicted Score: Arkansas 27 South Carolina 20 (line: Arkansas -5)

WATCH AT YOUR OWN RISK:

Vanderbilt at Florida
(Saturday, November 7th, 2009 7:15 ESPN2)
Predicted Game MVP: Florida QB Tim Tebow
Bottom Line: Florida’s defense will suffocate Vanderbilt’s offense, even without LB Brandon Spikes in the game. Vanderbilt’s offense is anemic and will struggle to move the ball. Florida, and Tebow, will run the ball all night and have success doing it. Gators win big at home.
Predicted Score: Florida 40 Vanderbilt 6 (line: Florida -32)

Memphis at Tennessee
(Saturday, November 7th, 2009 – 7:00 ESPNU)
Predicted Game MVP: Tennessee RB Monterio Hardesty
Bottom Line: Memphis is not playing good football this season. Tennessee is getting better every week. Look for more of the same in this game. Tennessee will run all over Memphis and create turnovers on defense. Vols win easy in this one.
Predicted Score: Tennessee 37 Memphis 13 (line: Tennessee -26)

CREAM PUFFS

Northern Arizona at Ole Miss
(Saturday, November 7th, 2009 – 7:30)
Predicted Game MVP: Ole Miss WR Dexter McCluster
Bottom Line: Northern Arizona is a decent football team, and played well earlier in the season against a quality Arizona team. This game will not be the instant blowout Ole Miss fans may want to see, but the Rebels will pull away and win big by the time it is over.
Predicted Score: Ole Miss 40 Northern Arizona 17

Furman at Auburn
(Saturday, November 7th, 2009 - 1:30)
Predicted Game MVP: Auburn RB Ben Tate
Bottom Line: This game gives Auburn the opportunity to rest their starters after 10 straight weeks of playing football. Look for Auburn to run the ball early and often, and create turnovers on defense, to shut down Furman.
Predicted Score: Auburn 55 Furman 10

Tennessee Tech at Georgia
(Saturday, November 7th, 2009 - 1:00)
Predicted Game MVP: Georgia WR A.J. Green
Bottom Line: Game will be over in the first quarter. Green will make a couple big catches and seal the win for the Bulldogs early on. Then Georgia will focus on getting their running game going, as they try and prepare for big games coming up against Auburn and Georgia Tech.
Predicted Score: Georgia 52 Tennessee Tech 6

Eastern Kentucky at Kentucky
(Saturday, November 7th, 2009 - 1:00)
Predicted Game MVP: Kentucky WR Randall Cobb
Bottom Line: Eastern Kentucky has a good football team, battling for their third straight Ohio Valley Conference Championship this season. They pass well, attack on defense and have effective special teams. If Kentucky is hung-over from a painful loss to Mississippi State last weekend, Eastern Kentucky could hang around in this one. However, in the end, the Wildcat running game will be too much for the Colonels. Kentucky will pull away in the second half for their 5th win of the season.
Predicted Score: Kentucky 34 Eastern Kentucky 17
