Barry Every has updated his 2018 First Coast player rankings. Five counties encompass this area; they are Clay, Duval, Nassau, Putnam and St. John’s.

College recruiters continue to scavenge the greater Jacksonville area; two weeks are still left in the spring evaluation period. More offers are sure to come for the prospects listed below, with new names still to be uncovered.

Version 3.0 of the 2018 First Coast Player Rankings eyes expansion from a Top 52 to a Top 55 with three new names. We have also made some changes in the rankings as five players see upward movement. All new names are bolded.

The highest new entry belongs to hybrid DE/OLB Matthew McDougal of Jacksonville (Fla.) Sandalwood. Last season the passing rushing predator played at Jacksonville (Fla.) Wolfson. McDougal has recently picked up offers from Temple and Troy. He makes his entry at #30.

Coming in at #32 is S/CB Jabari Jaudon of Jacksonville (Fla.) Ribault. This ball hawking defensive back with an affinity for contact is just starting to pick up serious interest from FBS and FCS schools. They should take notice of his prowess on the gridiron along with his 22 on the ACT.

Also landing in the rankings for the first time is Jacksonville (Fla.) Bolles defensive end Rushton Roberts. Roberts was recently offered by Army and comes in at #41.

Now onto the movers and shakers. Offensive lineman Brad Cecil has seen his recruitment skyrocket. He has well over 15 offers with the most recent coming from Air Force, Army, Colorado State, FAU, Georgia Southern, Memphis and Navy.

He also boast a slew of Ivy League offers, so grades are definitely not an issue for this mauler. He jumps from #11 to #7.

The top running back in the area is Jacksonville (Fla.) Ed White every down back Caleb Steward. He is nearing double digit offers with the latest coming from Bowling Green State, ECU, Toledo, USF and Virginia Tech. Steward jumps six spots to #11.

Offensive lineman Orlando Heggs of Jacksonville (Fla.) Bolles remains a hot commodity reaching double digit offers. Big Griz recently reeled in offers from Iowa State, Tulane and Wake Forest. He moves up seven spots to #18.

One of the biggest defensive hustlers is Johnny Bogle of Ponte Vedra (Fla.) Nease. College coaches have taken notice of this high-motor performer. He has recently picked up offers from ECU, FAU, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, MTSU, Toledo and Tulane. Bogle jumps from #29 to #19 in the rankings.

Finally the biggest ascender, Devon Matthews of Jacksonville (Fla.) Ribault, catapults 20 spots. The long and lanky real estate broker has picked up offers from Kent State, Mississippi State and USF. Look for his stock to continue moving up the recruiting index.

The 2018 First Coast Player Rankings will be updated again in June once the spring evaluation period ends.
