Carrying a 4.1 GPA in the classroom, Tyler McGarr is hoping to find the best blend of academics and athletics when it comes time to put pen to paper on National Signing Day.

2015 offensive tackle prospect Tyler McGarr out of Harris County High School in West Georgia is, simply put, a seriously focused young man.

A ferocious competitor at six-foot-four, 277 pounds, McGarr was recently honored as one of the top offensive line prospects in attendance at the Explosive Southern Pigskin Camp in Waycross.

Learning from former Georgia and NFL offensive tackle Bernard Williams, McGarr, who is already widely-regarded as an excellent run blocker, picked up some tricks and techniques which he believe will help make him a better overall lineman.

“I think I did pretty well,” McGarr said of his recent camp performance. “I learned a lot from [Coach Williams], especially in pass blocking. He showed me a bunch of little things that I wouldn’t have been able to pick up on my own.”

McGarr was already beginning to see his recruitment generate a significant amount of traction prior to heading to last weekend’s event in Waycross.

But after such an impressive display against the elite athletes in attendance, his recruitment is ready to take a jump to the next level.

Though he has yet to visit any of the schools on his list during the current offseason, he has continued to draw interest from numerous programs in the region. Arizona, Cincinnati, Georgia Southern, Georgia State and Vanderbilt are amongst the programs that have been in regular contact with McGarr as he heads into his final season at the prep level.

As it turns out, he is on the verge of quickly rectifying the fact that he has not yet been to any college campuses.

“Next weekend I am going to Mercer for their Junior Day and Spring Game,” McGarr remarked. “The weekend after that I am going to Georgia Southern for their Junior Day. I’m not completely sure yet, but I very well may be going to Stetson for their Junior Day the following weekend.”

The good news for McGarr is, given his intense focus in all areas of his life, he undoubtedly will have no shortage of suitors when it comes time to make his college choice.

Carrying a 4.1 GPA in the classroom, McGarr is hoping to find the best blend of academics and athletics when it comes time to put pen to paper on National Signing Day. His drive in the classroom has unquestionably carried over to the gridiron, where he routinely displays his intelligence with his performance on the field.

While McGarr’s scholastic accomplishments are a product of tremendous dedication and hard work, he also possesses the type of frame that you simply cannot teach to an offensive lineman. His physical presence and supreme strength are also nicely accentuated by above-average footwork, making him one of the top prospects in the Peach State in the trenches.

Size is a hot commodity to college programs, and they rarely get the opportunity to recruit players who possess the necessary size in addition to advanced skills, an elite work ethic and exceptional grades in the classroom.

His all-around dedication to success is what has made Tyler McGarr one of the Peach State’s finest.
