It was down to Cincinnati, Maryland, Mississippi State, and West Virginia, but the standout receiver is headed to Morgantown.

2018 WR Sam James, of Richmond Hill High School, has announced his decision to play college football for the West Virginia Mountaineers.

"I just loved it up there," James explained. "Talking to the head coach, it felt like I belonged there, like I was loved."

James is inarguably one of the top wide receivers in the state of Georgia and national level talent.

His former teammate and former Richmond Hill Wildcat, Nick Fitzgerald, is the star quarterback at Mississippi State, another team in his final four.

"There was some pressure to go play with Nick," James stated, "but I wanted to create my own legacy."

James is sure to be an excellent fit in Dana Holgorsen's wide open offense.

"I think they could use me like Tavon (Austin)," said James. "I see myself as a slot receiver that can go outside when I need to."

As a product of Richmond Hill, led by head coach Matt Lezotte's example, James carries with him a workman-like attitude.

The standout pass catcher said, "Honestly, I'm not really worried about playing time. I've got to go up there and compete. I've got to earn my spot. Wherever they need me, I'll go play."

Now, with his announcement under his belt, James is poised for another huge year at Richmond Hill, before making his way to Morgantown.
