More leading performers from the ESPFC-Waycross.

The second edition of the Explosive Southern Pigskin camp series was held in Waycoss on Saturday. Countless prospects showed off notable ability and determination. The competition was extremely close. In addition to each position’s top performers, as voted on by the coaches, below are seven more players who were among those who stood out;

Jared Allen, OL, Valdosta (2017) — Though an underclassman, Allen showed off an strong skill set and a great foundation for the future. He twice ran five-flat in the forty yard dash, especially good times for a player of his position and size. With an ideal base, Allen will continue to develop as a leader in the trenches.

Stetson Bennett, QB, Pierce County (2017) — Bennett throws a beautiful football, with tremendous touch and accuracy. A little undersized overall, his arm is big-time. After putting up gaudy numbers the second half of last season, look for even more from Bennett moving forward. He sees the field very well and reacts in a hurry.

John Cano, OL, Brunswick (2018) — Cano, the top offensive line performer at the ESPFC in Pooler, continues to show off his potential. He is improving at his craft at a rapid rate and has a sturdy build for a young lineman. One of the coaches made the comment that Cano, “will play college football one day”.

Kendall Henderson, DL, Wayne County (2017) — Big and physical, Henderson is a force in the trenches. He plays low to the ground, has a powerful burst off the line and has the capability of drawing multiple blockers at the point of attack. Henderson is a handful to contain.

Trent Jackson, WR, Wayne County (2018) — A talented wide receiver prospect, Jackson has an ideal frame on which to build. He has a great athletic foundation and will only improve with time. Jackson’s potential was on clear display, as he had success against more experienced defenders.

Gaven Williams, QB, Frederica Academy (2019) — Williams is a young quarterback talent who impressed coaches with his arm strength and ability to read defenses. He was very efficient in passing drills and has great touch on his downfield throws. Additionally, Williams ran a sub-five forty yard dash.

Trent Zeigler, LB, South Effingham (2017) — One of the most physically-impressive athletes who took the field, Zeigler is an edge rusher; he can play outside linebacker or defensive end and still has some growing to do. The son of former NFL player Dusty Zeigler, the coaches were calling him “Baby Clay Matthews”.
