A long-time Alabama verbal commitment, Chris Williams recently decided to take an official visit to Central Florida while remaining a “soft commit” to the Crimson Tide.

Southern Pigskin Director of Recruiting Matt Osborne has learned from sources that Camden County defensive back Chris Williams is leaning towards signing his letter of intent with Central Florida on National Signing Day.

A long-time Alabama verbal commitment, Williams recently decided to take an official visit to Central Florida while remaining a “soft commit” to the Crimson Tide.

Williams’ high school teammate, four-star cornerback Kalvaraz Bessent, was also a long-time Alabama verbal commitment. Bessent ultimately flipped his commitment to Auburn after an unofficial visit to the Plains in late November.

Williams, who is currently ranked as a three-star prospect, would become the Knights’ 17th commitment in the 2014 class. He would also be the second prospect from the Coastal Georgia region to commit to the Knights, joining quarterback Tyler Harris.
