The Wildcats will tune up for next week’s trip to Florida with the preseason pick to win the MAC East. The Redhawks return 25-game starting quarterback Brett Gabbert (Blaine’s brother) and sport one of the MAC’s best receivers in aptly-named Mac Hippenhammer. Kentucky should be well aware of Miami (OH) taking a nine-win Minnesota team to the wire a year ago. Kentucky is always good for one poor performance each year in a buy game. With running back Chris Rodriguez out and some key offensive line changes, this feels like that game for 2022. It will be well into the second half before Kentucky can turn its attention to Florida.
