LSU has the best resume in all of college football.

There were a lot of questions around Ed Orgeron entering the season; what were realistic expectations for a seemingly down-trending LSU? How hot was his seat? Some asked if Orgeron would even make it through the entire year. As the season actually settles in, a whole new set of questions are now being posed, some of them wondering way up the ladder and way down the line.

After winning at 7th ranked Auburn with a game-winning 42-yard field goal from Cole Tracy as time expired, the suddenly-trendy Tigers have positioned themselves as a legitimate big-picture contender. Throw in an opening win over ACC Coastal Division favorite Miami and LSU has the best resume in all of college football. The talking points have officially changed and, keep in mind, we're just getting started. Looking ahead, the Tigers get Georgia, Mississippi State and Alabama all at home in Death Valley.

Perhaps we should have seen this coming to a certain extent. Though a blowout loss in Starkville and a home defeat to Troy last September were major setbacks, LSU, quietly, played very well from that point on. Orgeron's Tigers finished last year winning six of seven to end the regular season, falling only to the Crimson Tide in a competitive tilt and beating the likes of Auburn, Florida and Texas A&M. Hype around the LSU defense has proved warranted and the offense, which just held possession for over 35 minutes on the Plains, has done enough.

The Orgeron vision is taking shape. The Tigers are winning games at the line of scrimmage and are athletically and physically beating their opponents. Resiliency, coming back from down 21-10 late in the third quarter at Auburn, appears to be another team strength. LSU is also excelling at football's often-overlooked, but perhaps most important, area of play. Three games in, the Tigers have yet to turn the football over; LSU is the currently game's only team without such a mistake.

Through all of the ups and downs, Orgeron's conviction has never wavered. At 3-0, he and the Tigers have very much earned college football's attention and respect. It's early, but LSU has worked its way into the national conversation.
