The Furman Paladins rushed for a season high 362 yards in a very workmanlike road win over 18th ranked Western Carolina 21-7.

It was the Paladins first win over a Top 25 opponent since 2013, the last season in which they won a SoCon Title.

Furman won their sixth game in a row, keeping pace with Wofford atop the SoCon standings at 5-1.

Furman was led by Fullback Antonio Wilcox’s career day tallying 202 yards on the ground.

Wilcox helped the Paladins break the game open on the first possession of the second half.

Wilcox had a 68-yard run, followed by a Kealand Dirks 6-yard touchdown run that gave the Paladins a 14-0 lead. Dirks finished the game with 119 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

Western Carolina lost quarterback Tyrie Adams to a lower leg injury in the first half, running back Detrez Newsome led the Catamounts with 110 yards rushing.

Western Carolina is still mathematically alive for a share of the SoCon title but would need some help.

The Catamounts travel to the Citadel next week while Furman takes a week off before hosting The Citadel on November 11th.
