The Citadel won 45-25 on the road at rival VMI.

1. The Military Classic of the South is one of college football's top rivalries. Played since 1920, The Citadel and VMI compete for the famed Silver Shako. This is once again a Southern Conference rivalry as the Keydets have rejoined the league they were part of for 79 years. With their 45-25 victory Saturday in Lexington, the Bulldogs have now won eight consecutive meetings.

2. A fast start on the road went a long way towards The Citadel's victory. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 21-0 lead, two of the first three scores coming from quarterback Aaron Miller, en route to their 20-point win. In an always-emotional contest, head coach Mike Houston and his staff clearly had their team ready to play.

3. The Citadel ran for almost 400 yards and produced two different 100-yard rushers: Isiaha Smith and Jake Stenson. A total of five different Bulldogs ran for touchdowns. Consistent ground production allowed The Citadel to compile 26 first downs and hold the football for nearly 34 minutes. Additionally, the Bulldogs did not have a single turnover.

4. Thanks to three wins in four games down the stretch, The Citadel has a solid foundation in place and good momentum for next season. The Bulldogs showed some gumption down the home stretch, winning 28-26 at Mercer, topping Furman 42-35 in overtime and finishing strong at VMI. November's lone loss came by three points against Samford.

5. Keydet quarterback Al Cobb had another standout showing. The freshman signal caller completed 27-of-43 passes for 396 yards and two touchdowns, adding a 20-yard rush on the afternoon. Given his year one production, the record books should be put on notice.
