Samford and The Citadel are set to meet in what should be one of the more competitive games in the SoCon this weekend.

Wofford at Furman

Furman just continues to lose games as its skid moves to eight in a row after an overtime loss to The Citadel. Wofford has been one of the better teams in the conference so far, but is still hovering around .500. This is an important game for these two teams, not in any tangible way, but for morale. Furman's season has been a disaster, regardless of what happens in its last two games, but it would be good for the program to break up this losing streak and remind its fans of what it's like to get a win. For Wofford, this is more about avoiding embarrassment. No one wants to lose to the team that got smacked by VMI. Look for Wofford to be the more physical team and walk away with a two-score win.

Prediction: 28-14 Wofford

Samford at Citadel

The Citadel is battling these last two weeks for a winning conference record. This will be its last real test of the season. The Citadel survived an overtime scare against Furman last week to make it two wins in a row. They should be able to carry some of that momentum in to this game. Then again, Samford is one of the hotter teams in the conference right now, coming off a multiple-score win against Western Carolina to extend its winning streak to three in a row. The Citadel is more than capable of making this thing interesting, especially at home. If they can establish the run early and mix up the play calling just enough to keep the defense honest, this could be a close one. Even so, don't expect Samford to drop this one.

Prediction: 35-24 Samford

VMI at Western Carolina

They haven't done it often this season, but the Ketydets are actually coming off a win coming into this game. Western Carolina can't afford to overlook the Keydets if it wants to keep this surprisingly good season intact. The Catamounts have been better than most people expected so far, but a loss at home to VMI sure would put a damper on the year they've had. VMI's spread attack is capable of putting up points, as its shown occasionally over the year, so the Cats defense needs to be prepared. There won't be any upsets in EJ Whitmire Stadium this weekend, though. The Catamounts will take care of business and put the game away early.

Prediction: 42-17 Western Carolina

Chattanooga at Tennessee Tech

This game looks to be a bit of a victory lap for Chattanooga, fresh off clinching the SoCon title and autobid. This game doesn't have much bearing other than in-state bragging rights, but that should be plenty of motivation. Don't expect Coach Huesman to take it easy, by any means, but it might be wise to call the digs off early, if possible, to avoid injury as the Mocs near the postseason. Look for the starters to score early and often and let some of the younger players get some experience in the second half.

Prediction: 49-6 Chattanooga

Warner at Mercer

Mercer is undefeated in non conference play this season. This shouldn't change when Warner goes to Macon this week. This ought to be a nice bounce back game for the Bears, who have dropped the last three games in a row, all to SoCon opponents. The Royals are going to be in for a tough time, as the Mercer players will probably want to take out some frustration this week and maybe pad some stats in the process. If you enjoy one-sided blowouts then this is a can't miss game for you.

Prediction: 45-7 Mercer
