With a 45-19 victory, Chattanooga recorded its first ever undefeated record in the Southern Conference.

nWofford 34,xc2xa0Mercer 6

nMercer could not get anything going on either side of the ball yesterday. Wofford held the Bears to 151 total yards, barely more than three yards per play. Meanwhile, Lorenzo Long and the Terriers piled up 374 rushing yards and over 400 yards of total offense. Long led the way with 105 yards and four touchdowns on 16 carries. Quarterback Michael Weimer also had a good day carrying the ball 12 times for 95 yards and a 48 yard touchdown run.

nCitadel 45, VMI 25

nAl Cobb shredded the Citadel through the air, but it wasn’t enough to win the game. Cobb completed 27 of his 43 attempts for 396 yards and two touchdowns. Deon Watts scored the Keydets other two touchdowns on the ground. Six different players scored the Citadel’s six touchdowns. Isiah Smith led the Bulldogs with 134 rushing yards and one score on 23 touches. Jake Stenson added another 120 yards on the ground on just 12 carries. The Silver Shako trophy will be back at the Citadel for the eleventh year in a row.

nChattanooga 45, Furman 19

nJacob Huesman continues to put up big numbers week in and week out. He’s like a machine. The junior threw for 257 yards and two touchdowns yesterday and added another 103 yards and a pair of scores running the ball. Faysal Shafaat caught both of Huesman’s touchdown passes. The Mocs have been dominant against conference opponents all year and yesterday was no exception. With the big win, Chattanooga clinched a first round bye in the playoffs and will face the winner of Eastern Kentucky vs. Indiana State.

nAlabama 48,xc2xa0Western Carolina 14

nTroy Mitchell completed 23 of his 39 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns. The Catamounts allowed Alabama to rack up 612 total yards but they actually won the turnover battle. Western Carolina forced the number one team in the country into two turnovers and didn’t turn the ball over once.

nAuburn 31,xc2xa0Samford 7

nIt could have been worse. Samford actually played a respectable game against national powerhouse, Auburn. The Bulldogs drew first blood, but failed to score after that. Even so, it’s safe to say they made Auburn fans uncomfortable for a while. One thing that stood out is how disciplined Pat Sullivan’s team was against his alma mater. Samford only committed two penalties the whole game.
