Looking ahead to week two in the SoCon.

Hurricane Irma has affected one game involving a SoCon team this weekend.  The Citadel will now travel to Clinton, SC to take on the Presbyterian Blue Hose at Noon on Saturday.  This will be the first time since a 19-0 Citadel win in 1937 that the Bulldogs and Blue Hose have played in Clinton.

The SoCon is the only conference in the Nation that will have teams face both the defending FCS National Champion and FBS National Champion this season.  ETSU will travel to Harrisonburg, VA this week to take on the defending FCS Champion in top ranked James Madison.  Later in the season, The Citadel will head to the Upstate to take on Clemson, the defending FBS National Champion.

Chattanooga will be the first of four SoCon teams to venture into the land of the giants known as the SEC in 2017.  The Mocs will head to Baton Rouge to take on LSU Saturday night at 7:00.  Next Saturday, Mercer takes on the first of two SEC opponents this season as they head to the Plains to take on Auburn, Samford will also travel to Athens in a battle of Bulldogs as well.  Wofford travels to take on South Carolina and Mercer goes to Tuscaloosa to face Alabama on November 18th.

Furman opens their home schedule against Elon this Saturday at 1:00 in Paladin Stadium.  First year Head Coach Clay Hendrix will make his head coaching debut in the stadium he played his college football and then coached for the first 19 years of his career.  Hendrix’s high school and college teammate Mercer Head Coach Bobby Lamb also hosted Elon in his first home game as Furman’s Head Coach back in 2002.
