Arkansas State is 16-2 in the month of October dating back to 2011.

After an 0-4 start this fall, Arkansas State has a chance to pull within one game of .500 at home against Louisiana-Monroe this weekend. A win would keep the Red Wolves on pace in the Sun Belt Conference standings and would be the program's 12th consecutive league win. Moving forward, Arkansas State is looking to close out another opportunistic October, as the Red Wolves are 16-2 in the month dating back to 2011.

Saturday stands as an important swing game for Arkansas State. Fresh off of a bye week, the Red Wolves will now play six straight contests to finish regular season. The fourth home game in a row for Arkansas State, the meeting with the visiting Warhawks, is the Red Wolves' penultimate game in Jonesboro in 2016. Another October victory would result in familiar momentum heading into the stretch run of the schedule and a potentially-huge showdown at Troy in mid-November.

Arkansas State has won six games in a row in the series with Louisiana-Monroe, including the last four meetings by multiple scores. The Warhawks are 1-2 in conference play.

In recent weeks, the Red Wolves have shown an ability to win games different ways. Against Georgia Southern, Arkansas State rallied for two late scores, including a game-winning 8-yard touchdown pass from Justice Hansen to Omar Bayless with nine seconds remaining. The Red Wolves, later playing at South Alabama, were sparked by a Chris Humes 60-yard fumble return for a touchdown and held the Jaguars to just 255 total yards. The end result, for the defending conference champions, has been more October success.

Last season saw Arkansas State change its fortunes with a 4-0 second month to the year. The calendar says the best the Red Wolves can do this October is 3-0, a turnaround that would still have have the potential to result in a title.
