Louisiana moved a step closer to a Sun Belt title with a victory over ULM.

Appalachian State at Arkansas State:

This was truly a statement game for the Appalachian State Mountaineers. Appalachian State was down in the second quarter by a score of 20-6, but the Mountaineers scored 31 unanswered points to put them up by a score of 37-20 in the fourth quarter. Arkansas State attempted a comeback by scoring three straight touchdowns in the fourth, but time was not on their side. Appalachian State running back Marcus Cox was the leading offensive player in this contest, rushing for 229 yards and two touchdowns. Appalachian State has been playing great football as of late. My question is why they waited so long to step it up.

Score: 37-32 Appalachian State

Georgia Southern at Navy:

This game truly had a surprising outcome. Georgia Southern played close games against "Power Five" conference opponents in NC State and Georgia Tech. However, the Eagles struggled gravely against Navy on Saturday. Georgia Southern scored the first touchdown, then proceeded to allow Navy to score 31 unanswered points. Georgia Southern running back Matt Breida had a great game running the ball, rushing for 210 yards and two touchdowns. No one, though, compared to Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds. Reynolds threw for 71 yards and a touchdown, but really impressed the crowd with his feet, rushing for 277 yards and six touchdowns. Navy controlled this game completely, and the only thing Georgia Southern can do is put it behind them and get ready for UL-Monroe coming up.

Score: 52-19 Navy

Troy at Idaho:

This was just a matchup between two rebuilding teams in the Sun Belt. It was a close game before Idaho failed to score in the second half, and Troy started to run away with it. Matt Linehan threw three interceptions against Troy, and that’s really where he has struggled this season. Troy quarterback Brandon Silvers played well, throwing for 231 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Troy has been on a little bit of a hot streak as of late, and maybe they can ride that into next year. Idaho, on the other hand, needs to completely rebuild the program.

Score: 34-17 Troy

Louisiana at UL-Monroe:

Louisiana quarterback Terrence Broadway led his team to a close victory over in-state competition on Saturday. Broadway threw for 173 yards and two touchdowns, and rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown. ULM quarterback Pete Thomas had a huge game, throwing for 472 yards and two touchdowns. His effort alone wasn’t enough to get past a good Louisiana team, though. The Ragin’ Cajuns are now 6-0 in the Sun Belt and are riding on a six-game winning streak.

Score: 34-27 Louisiana

Texas State at South Alabama:

Texas State was the favorite going in to this matchup, but the Bobcats were completely caught off guard against South Alabama on Saturday. The Bobcats jumped out to a ten-point lead in the first quarter, but they couldn’t capitalize on that lead. Texas State quarterback Tyler Jones put together an impressive performance, throwing for 300 yards and a touchdown in the loss. After being down 17-7 in the second quarter, South Alabama scored three straight touchdowns to take control of the game. The Jaguar defense proceeded to hold Texas State to only a field goal in the fourth quarter.

Score: 24-20 South Alabama
