Appalachian State's upset win over Louisiana was the biggest moment of the Sun Belt weekend.

South Alabama at South Carolina:

South Alabama really put up more of a fight than I presumed. There was a point in the second quarter where the score was 10-6. It could have been worse for the Gamecocks if South Alabama didn’t struggle so much in the red zone. The South Alabama defense began to crack in the second half, allowing South Carolina quarterback Dylan Thompson to take control. Thompson threw for 237 yards and a touchdown, and also caught one for a receiving touchdown in the fourth quarter. South Carolina has struggled gravely this season, but this game was a breeze for the Gamecocks.

Score: 37-12 South Carolina

Appalachian State at Louisiana:

Appalachian State shocked the Sun Belt on Saturday with a big-time win over first-place Louisiana. Appalachian State jumped out to a 14-3 lead after the first quarter. Mountaineer running back Marcus Cox took control of the show, rushing for 151 yards and two touchdowns. The game stayed close until the fourth quarter, when Appalachian State scored two straight touchdowns to put the Mountaineers up 35-16. Quarterback Taylor Lamb put up 195 yards and a touchdown throwing the ball. The Mountaineer defense truly shut down Louisiana quarterback Terrence Broadway, holding him to 160 yards throwing and no touchdowns. My question is where was this Appalachian State team the first half of the year?

Score: 35-16 Appalachian State

Georgia State at 22 Clemson:

This game went just how everyone expected. Georgia State has struggled gravely this season. Georgia State quarterback Nick Arbuckle has had some success this year, but against Clemson on Saturday, Arbuckle was held to 115 passing yards and three interceptions. Clemson running back Tyshon Dye was the most prevalent offensive component, rushing for 124 yards and two touchdowns. Clemson scored all of its points in the first half, and shut out the Panthers defensively.

Score: 28-0 Clemson

UL-Monroe at New Mexico State:

New Mexico State has now lost nine straight, and seems to be the worst team in the conference. ULM quarterback Pete Thomas had a very impressive day, passing for 350 yards and a touchdown. Tyler Rogers, the New Mexico State quarterback, threw for a less impressive 102 yards and no touchdowns. At halftime, the score was 20-17 ULM. New Mexico State was still very much in the game, but the ULM defense decided to step it up in the second half and proceeded to shut New Mexico State out for the remainder of the game.

Score: 30-17 ULM
