There were some great performances this week in the SoCon

Offensive Player of the Week: Samford quarterback Devlin Hodges was 28-of-38 passing for 345 yards and three touchdowns and he also ran for 94 yards.0 Samford picked up a 37-27 win on the road over Wofford to even its record to 5-5 on the season.0

Defensive Player of the Week: Mercerxe2x80x99s Zach Jackson intercepted a PJ Blazejowski pass on Furmanxe2x80x99s first play of overtime to seal the Bears’ 27-20 win over the Paladins in Greenville.0 It was the second week in a row that Jackson picked off a pass to seal a Mercer win. Last week his interception ended Mercerxe2x80x99s upset win over third-ranked Chattanooga.

Special teams Player of the Week: Samford kicker Anthony Pistelli made three field goals – 19, 27 and 19 yards – in the Bulldogs’ 37-27 win over Wofford.

X-Factor of the Week: Mercer running back Alex Lakes helped lead the Bears to their second straight win and even their record at 5-5 on the season, beating Furman 27-20 in overtime.0 Lakes carried the ball 19 times for 131 yards and the winning touchdown in overtime.0

Coach of the Week: Chattanoogaxe2x80x99s Russ Huesman led the Mocs to their third consecutive SoCon championship.0 The Mocs beat previously unbeaten in the SoCon Citadel 31-23 to secure the title and the SoConxe2x80x99s automatic bid to the FCS Playoffs.
