Struggles Continue for Seminoles

Simply put, Florida State hasn't seen many stretches like this.

After a 31-28 home loss to Louisville, one where Florida State fumbled just outside of the redzone with the game tied with roughly two minutes remaining, the Seminoles are now 2-4 and on the wrong side of history. Florida State's 35-year bowl streak, the longest in the nation, is now very much in doubt as the Seminoles will need to finish with four wins in their last five games with a tough second-half schedule ahead.

Most amazing have been Florida State's struggles at home. The Seminoles have yet to win a game at Doak Campbell Stadium this fall and won't even have another opportunity to until November. Florida State is now 0-3 in Tallahassee for the first time since 1974. Stunningly, the Seminoles are 3-5 in their last eight home games overall.

After opening the season with a 24-7 defeat against top-ranked Alabama, Florida State's three ACC losses have come by a combined 13 points. The last two setbacks, Miami and Louisville, came in heartbreaking fashion. Following a late go-ahead touchdown pass from James Blackman to Auden Tate, the Hurricanes responded with a game-winning score with six seconds remaining. Most recently, the Cardinals turned an FSU fumble into a game-winning field goal with five seconds to play, a converted attempt that came right after a timeout cancelled a miss.

Blackman, forced into action when Deondre Francois was lost for the season with a knee injury against Alabama, has shown both promise and poise and has had his ups and downs as a true freshman learning on the fly. Minus Francois and without Dalvin Cook from a year ago, Florida State's offense has hard to work hard for modest production. Saturday's 28 points were a season-high for the Seminoles, a total that includes a defensive score.

Simply put, Florida State hasn't seen many stretches like this. Head coach Jimbo Fisher and the Seminoles will have to rally, this fall, to even be relevant.
