Thought for those that have to have a discussion about the quality of content once it launches.

I called Comcast today and they said they haven’t reached an agreement here in Savannah.  I told them that they aren’t the only game in town and you might not want to give customers a reason to shop around.

If they don’t offer it before launch I’ll to the trial memberships with Youtube TV and when that expires jump to a free trial with Hulu as I’ve mentioned in a different thread and hopefully they will have things worked out before the free trial ends.

I know Mark Packard and Wes Durham are going to be involved and I really like both…especially Mark Packard.

Hopefully it will be a good product.  The nice thing about the ACC is that the league competes really well in most sports hopefully we will get a nice sampling.  Also, the ACC has a nice Library of historical basketball and football games to show.  I would imagine Notre will add their library which is a no-brainer for the network.

I don’t like watching replays of FSU games because I know who won already, but historical games between other teams are pretty enjoyable especially the former BE teams.

looks like a lot of people are reviewing their cable service today.  I was comparing what I get from Comcast and it looks like I can get about the same service from Youtube TV and cut my cable bill about 50 bucks…I would lose HBO, but they pissed me off with the way Game of Thrones ended and I rarely watch the channel anyone.

I’ve been listening to Packer and Durham on sXM radio for a while. I like them. The first two hours should be a good preview of what it will be like in studio. There’s a Dook thing on after that. They will have like and inside look at UNC basketball all season. That will be interesting. Other than that I have not idea what to expect. It’s on Directv channel 612, I believe. That would be right next to the Big10 and SEC channels. I upgraded for the golf, and espn sports channels a month ago. I may pick up Fox Sports channels for football season, but that costs $13 a month extra.

A great wife, two wonderful girls, and an ever improving golf game. Gray hairs not withstanding!

Last night’s launch was about what you expect.  Everyone was stiff and trying to find a comfort zone.  While I expect a lot of Basketball discussion with a lot of emphasis on UNC and Duke, I was a little surprised the network decided to pursue that as a significant part of the programming with the start of college football season on our doorstep. I was hoping more of an around the league discussion on ACC Football.  They did talk football a bit but BB was the dominate discussion.  It didn’t “Sell the sizzle”.  But it was a first night so we will see.

I listened a little to Paker and Durham this morning and they were doing more of what I was expecting.  I did like them having the UVa Lacrosse Coach on and VT Wrestling coach and the Duke Women’s golf coach on as a “champions” discussion.  Of course, Dabo was on as well.  One of the coaches made a good comment that the ACCN probably won’t enhance the recruiting as much for Duke or UNC BB but it will really help recruiting with the olympic sports which I agree.

I chose the Hulu free trial as if was a little longer period than the 5 days offered by Youtube TV.  It was very good quality.

Been happy with Hulu live tv so far and it will lead into the Disney plus service when it launches.

ACCN is about what I would expect. It will find its groove and in the end it is going to be a propaganda and cheerleading for much of the non game coverage. I am looking forward to college baseball coverage where I really think it will improve the offerings.

Good on you all for letting Comcast know there are other options. It worked in NC with Spectrum. Hopefully it will work for you all before the first football game.

A little early critique of the Paker-Durham show:

I know it’s only been a few episodes and I think it will be a good show but they are trying too hard to get faces from around the league at the wrong time.

This morning, 2 days after the Miami-Florida game where they had a really entertaining watch event on Saturday night with Richt and Beasun they don’t open up with a review of the game, the watching event which had some entertaining moments. Instead the start panning around the league with various coaches from Olympic Sports. They eventually go to Addazio which was a good interview, but as I was leaving for work with it being about 1 hour and 40 minutes into the broadcast still very little on the game.

I totally understand the need to get the league brand out there and perhaps they have to open up the show that way, but I would think you open a show at the start of the college football season with a major ACC-SEC matchup and talk about it.
