I’m only going to go with the noteworthy ones

1.  Jeremy Pruit
2.  Willie Taggart
3.  Chad Morris
4.  Chip Kelly
5.  Charlie Strong

Clay Helton and Jim Harbaugh got a break and needs to keep winning.

Willie Taggart and Jermy Pruit are in a virtual tie.  I picked up CWT’s buyout breakdown and I don’t think they can afford to fire him:

If Florida State fires Taggart before his contract expires on Jan. 31, 2023, his buyout is 85 percent of the remaining balance. For example, for simplicity’s sake, if the Seminoles fire Taggart on Feb. 1, 2020, after his second full season as head coach, they would owe him 85 percent of $20 million, or $17 million.

Feb. 1, 2020: $17 million
Feb. 1, 2021: $12.75 million
Feb. 1, 2022: $8.5 million
Feb. 1: 2023: $4.25 million

How does an AD agree to a contract like this on a coach that has virtually no experience building a major college team?  I don’t know how much FSU can afford but this is an insane buyout.

The real question is can FSU afford to keep him?  I saw a lot of empty seats in the stadium last night and I would imagine the big money boosters are probably putting the screws to the AD to get CWT out.

My sense tells me that FSU will ride this out until the end of the year.  There is no way this FSU team is going bowling after what we are seeing.

Morris had a true rebuild and I would guess he has more time.

How is Muschamp not on that list?  If Hilinski isn’t a miracle worker Boom is gonna get wrecked all year this year.  Year 4 and he’s lost 4 straight to the ACC with the most recent to last years worst team with a new coach and less talent.  He’s proven that he can regularly get out coached.

Pruit is flopping the hardest.
Willie didn’t need to rebuild he just needed to take out the trash.  He has talent to work with but is struggling on how to use it.  It’s embarrassing.

I thought about coach Boom, but I just felt like others were more worthy.  Boom gets a break with Bently out and if UNC keeps playing well that helps Muschamp…

No way Tennessee fires him after the fiasco of their coaching search.  No way they go through that again so soon.

They are staring down the barrel of a 2 win (chat, FAU, Vandy) gun with 2 very embarrassing losses to start the season.  Attendance is gonna be UGLY.  Showing improvement will be hard to do against more difficult teams.  You can lose a lot of money real fast in big stadiums like that if nobody shows up.

I love how the Vols stole our OC and we are supposed to be hurting. We are glad Chaney is gone.

If Pruitt loses to Chattanooga, I think he is done. I don’t see Tennessee winning more than 4 games this year.

Taggert’s seat is definitely on fire.

If that happens, I agree, Pruitt would be gone - if he’s not gone already. Another coaching search isn’t going to look good either. They need to find a way to stop the bleeding.

Taggart must have used all the team’s water to douse that fire on his seat.

I’ve change this thread to an ongoing 2019 thread…

AFTER WEEK 3: (In no particular order)

Willie Taggart
Chip Kelly
Wil Muschamp
Justin Fuentes
Jeremy Pruitt
Clay Helton

Fuentes is the one name I’m surprise to have to add.  He just isn’t moving the needle at VT.  Too bad.

Coach Boom started losing it if anyone saw his halftime interview.  He knows he’s in trouble.  UNC may have been his the bullet that took him down and he’s slowly bleeding out…

Chip Kelly is living on a reputation and that’s run it’s course.

Willie Taggart…What more needs to be said.  These kids are going to begin quitting on him soon if they don’t start winning.  17 Million buyout is what’s keeping him on staff.

Willie Taggart - Big trouble! That buyout is huge, but yikes!!
Chip Kelly - They are bad, but he hasn’t been there very long, so he may have some time.
Wil Muschamp - Hilinski’s biggest fan right now.
Justin Fuentes - They haven’t gotten much done, but I think he may have a little more time.
Jeremy Pruitt - I think he’s done, but they did look impressive against “in-state rival” Chattanooga…
Clay Helton - He’s is trouble, but the whole USC athletic department is a mess.

Chip Kelly needs to get off his high horse and open up recruitment.  You don’t try to rebuild a mediocre program with selective scholarships like it’s some achievement to get a UCLA scholly.  It’s especially dumb while the rest of the PAC12 is already hemorrhaging talent to the east.

Clay Helton sure went from “definitely fired this year” to, “oh wow maybe he’s actually righted the ship”, to “never-mind both Stanford and USC suck”.

I think Muschamp has a $17 million buyout right now.

Muschamp won’t be going anywhere.  The schedule coming in was brutal and it was already factored into the share price for the year.  He’s doing enough to keep the job for now, taking them to bowls (maybe until this year) and Ray Tanner seems to really like him.  Now if Ray Tanner goes, then it’s a WHOLE new ballgame.  There is not much love for him as AD down here.

If FSU can afford it I don’t see how they don’t fire Taggart, it’s just a blatant waste of a traditionally strong program.  The guy seems to never have any clue about whats going on or how to fix it.

Ancient, that sounds more like the university than Chip Kelly.  Maybe he’s being used like a puppet.

POST WEEK 4:

Jim Harbaugh has to be feeling the burn. Got spanked by Wisky after surviving army.  I’ll wager he bolts for the NFL after this year. He’s not the solution for Michigan.

Taggart got a breather with surviving Louisville.

Jeremy Pruitt’s hole just keeps getting deeper and deeper after the UF beat down

Muschamp is in trouble. Like Taggart, to high buyout is his saving grace.

I don’t think Chip Kelly’s comeback over Wazzu helps much

Clay Helton get’s a breather after Utah, but will the new AD keep him?

Chad Morris has to finish strong this year.  Has a high buyout.

I think Mark Dantonio needs to be added because of the recruiting scandal that has getting messy.

Any other you can think of?

POST WEEK 5

CWT seat cools down a big.  Looks like bringing Jim Leavitt is paying off.

Justin Fuentes is not getting the job done at VT.  The program looks like it’s regressed….

Chad Morris had a chance to beat Texas A&M but couldn’t close the deal..he stays on the hot seat.

Wil Muschamp get a bucket of ice on the hot seat with a win over UK

Jeremy Pruitt gets the kiss of death with Fulmer publicly saying he’s not going to fire him..

Clay Helton is probably on his way out after the Washington beating…

I’m going to add for this week Steve Addazio because BC is really underachieving…I think he’s a good coach at an impossible place to be a consistent winner but it is what it is.

Let’s talk Mike Leach:

He’s not on the Hot Seat at Wash ST…But he’s taken that program as far as it can go and it’s looking like it’s going to be a little down this year.  You can tell in some in his latest presser he’s not happy with the team..

It appears that he’s rehabilitated he’s reputation after the Adam James/Texas Tech fiasco and I would imagine when a number of east coast jobs start opening up he will get calls from a lot of AD’s….He used to have a home in the Florida Keys and he may still have, but his name comes up in a lot of fans “wish list”.

Virginia Tech would be a great landing spot for Leach in the ACC.  I would love to see his personality in the league.  It would be great TV.

Leach to VT would be interesting…I don’t know how long they’ll give Fuentes, but he is in trouble.
Pruitt and Helton are probably done.
I’m not sure about Addazio. I think they like him and his teams have been competitive overall. They haven’t done as well as expected this year, but they may be satisfied with him.

AFTER WEEK 7

Some of the usual suspects got a nice bucket of ice to sit on like Coach Boom…Hell, he may get an extension after beating UGA..

In no particular order…

Clay Helton:

Another loss to a beatable ND team…I don’t think he has a chance of saving his job.  This will probably be the highest profile opening.

Chad Morris

While I’m a fan of CCM, I just think he’s at a program that’s in a conference where he has little chance of moving the needle enough.  He may get one more year but who knows?

Jeremy Pruitt

Got a little relief with a win over Miss State, but will he get another season if they don’t go bowling?

Mark Dantonio

He’s not on any list I’ve seen, but with some scandal issues along with looking really bad including getting blown out by Wisconsin, is he in trouble?

Willie Taggart

I saved CWT for last because it’s going to take a few words.  When I watched him on the sidelines in the Clemson game, he looked clueless.  No fire, no focus and totally out of he depth.  Clemson could have named their scored in this game.

At some point FSU is going to have to make a tough decision evaluating the cost of paying CWT a 17 million buyout vs seeing home games with 30-40K in a stadium that holds 80K…then there is the loss of revenue from the boosters, merchandise, etc..

Willie Taggart can continue running the program into the ground knowing he’s financially set for life…
