I have been tracking GT’s coaching search since CPJ retired and it really did seem like this guy made the most sense of all the candidates if GT wanted to or needed to move away from the 3O offense. He also spent time at Miss. St. under Dan Mullen.

I would have personally liked to have seen someone else that ran the 3O to see if they could have built on CPJ’s foundation.

Loved watching the triple option in a P5 conference, but Collins is a great hire.

I loved beating the 3o but I would rather see GT compete with UGA for some recruits.  It just isn’t right that the dawgs just sit there and soak up all the talent in that state.

7-6, against the 3o if I’m correct.

Paul Johnson went 5-7 against Clemson. Clemson went 7-5 against Paul Johnson.

However more importantly, Brent Venables has gone what, 6-1 against GT?  So yeah, I Hate to see that win go, will probably get tougher now.

In this decade since 2010, Clemson is 7-2 against GT.  CPJ’s offense was confusing when it first arrived to the ACC, but Venables figured out how to defend against it GT really hasn’t been much of a contest with us wining the last 4 in a row.

It appears this new coach will bring the HUNH to GT and that should really enhance recruiting as good WR’s, TE’s and QB’s will now have GT to consider.  Being in Atlanta give GT a huge geographic advantage and it will be interesting to see how that works out.

The Coastal Division is wide open for a team to take it and GT is just as capable as any other program.

I’ve followed Collins for about 7 years now and the man can coach. I actually told a coworker who played at GT they should hire him right after Johnson retired. He made an interesting comment: “he is a good coach but blurs the lines ethically”. If so, that will help him compete with UGA and Auburn.

I think he will be very successful at GT although I’m not sure GT deserves to be successful given their lack of interest in their sports programs.

Thanks for getting the thread back to subject. Glad we didn’t get Wisehunt. I’ll take successful CEO clowns for $400, Alex.

I didn’t mean to come across as trash-talk Buzz.  The point that I was trying to make is CPJ’s offense became easier to understand if you have the ability to recruit the kind of speed and size along with a long-term Defensive coaching staff that can analyze it over the years.
