Keep doubting Kentucky; the Wildcats will keep winning.

Kentucky is 4-0 and will very likely soon have a place in the national polls. The Wildcats, now 2-0 in the SEC, should also have a place in many college football conversations. This is a team, a program and a coach that deserves more attention.

Led by great defense, a perfect night from kicker Mark Ruffalo and another showcase performance by Chris Rodriguez at South Carolina, Kentucky simply continues to win. Arguably the nation’s best running back, Rodriguez ran 26 times for 144 yards. Kavosiey Smoke scored the Wildcats’ lone touchdown. Ruffalo was good on kicks from 43, 21 and 27 yards. Defensively, Kentucky held South Carolina to just 216 total yards, 12 first downs and 3-of-12 on third down attempts.

As has been the case in recent years, the Wildcats simply found a way on Saturday night. There is something to Kentucky’s poise and conviction late in contests. This is a team that believes when it matters most. The Wildcats have currently won five games in a row dating back to last season and have won four consecutive one-score games, including their two SEC victories this fall.

With Kentucky settling into conference play, clutch play will only continue to be more important.

Just as the Wildcats have earned more national acclaim, so, too, has Mark Stoops. With the triumph over South Carolina, he became the program’s new record-holder for SEC wins. Playing in college football’s toughest conference, Stoops is now 27-14 since the start of the 2018 season. He is also 9-2 in his last eleven games in Lexington, the lone losses coming in a game where Kentucky held Georgia to 14 points two years ago and in a one-point defeat to Ole Miss last season.

Up next for Kentucky: nationally-ranked Florida comes to town.

The Wildcats have a talented, experienced and confident team. Kentucky boasts an All-American candidate at running back, one of the SEC’s most proficient passers, one of the league’s most explosive receivers, a heralded offensive line and a defense capable of taking over games.

Keep overlooking Kentucky; the Wildcats will keep winning.

Ahead of a national showcase game against Florida, Kentucky is currently one of the leading names in the SEC.
